Went on the 'bay and got myself a Sega CD model 1 and Genesis model 1.

Now I need to find a home for the model 2 Genesis.
Might give it to a friend who has NO systems.
The games are fairly cheap(going up, though).

If olny there was a Sega CD mod chip...EVER.
There were carts you could get in the UK and Germany, but only the rarest of those work with most systems(bios revisions, etc).
The Japanese Mega CD library is SO much cooler and SO much more vast.
I may have to take to altering the region code in this computer and buring copies of the CHEAP ASS ones I found on a site i'm hoarding for myself.

I WAS in some kind of nostalgic euphoria when I made the first post, then I was in a flailing panic.
I am now lucid, and stand by my statements if not their presentation.

NOW I've fulfilled this dream.
Thought I actually did it a few times over, really.
I wanted just the Genesis 1 and the CD 1.

Now I'll be getting a Genesis 1, 2 CD 1 modules, a Genesis THREE(might GIVE that away, unless someone wants t pay like 10 bucks..), 3 controllers I don't really NEED, an two Genesis models 2s.
I'll get to have fun selling most of this junk.
Listing 3 Genesis 2s...

A Sega CD1 with no Genesis or a Genesis 2 with a CD1.
One is just an acessory, and the other is just ugly...
But that's enough rambling.

Anyone else do any Retrogame purchasing to fulfill old desires?

i had the 1.

are they different in any way but cosmetically?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 5 October 2006 18:05 (nineteen years ago)

I think you need a model 1 to get a model 1 sega cd, model 2 for model 2 sega cd, etc. but other than that, I'm not familiar with any differences. perhaps with fitting in sega 32xes as well?

Will M. (Will M.), Thursday, 5 October 2006 18:57 (nineteen years ago)

You can fit the Sega CD of either type to either type of Genesis.
The 32X fits to either of those.
The 3 works with nothing. only like 60% of GAMES work with it.

There were also the X'Eye/Wondermega models that had MIDI, better sound implementation and were a Genesis and a Sega CD in one. Similar but smaller and more ludicrous was the CDX/Multi-Mega. It was a chintzy low battery-life portable CD player that worked like a tiny Wondermega when you plugged it into the wall.
