IDDQD = teh rock
IDCLIP was my other favourite. Avoid getting jpwned by the cacodaemon by hiding INSIDE THE WALL.

What did IDKFA do?

I liked the one that revealed the whole map as well. I can't remember it right now.

From "Vice City" (which is only "old", probably not "age old", but still...

foxylittlething
panzer (spawns a tank, extra lolz if you type it in loads of times.)
certaindeath
comeflywithme
aspirine
nuttertools

"Pea souper" to skip to fog level on Lotus Esprit Challenge.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 13:01 (nineteen years ago)

Wasn't 'pea souper' only, like the 2nd or 3rd level anyway? I seem to remember it being fairly rubbish as cheats go.

mikes/marks team on Syndicate. That brought many a happy day of stomping around with miniguns and gause guns(sp?).

Does walking left at the first level of James Pond: Robocop count?

WRT the thread question, never even heard of the game so I'm no use... :(

Craig Gilchrist (Craig Gilchrist), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 13:27 (nineteen years ago)

i can't remember ANY spectrum cheats at all, and it's making me so sad.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 13:30 (nineteen years ago)

I remember trying to use a poke tape to complete Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the Spectrum, but I couldn't beat shredder.

Craig Gilchrist (Craig Gilchrist), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 13:35 (nineteen years ago)

spectrum cheats were all pokesville hex loaded type ins anyway weren't they?

yeah pea souper was a shit cheat, buts its all i remember. i wasnt a big cheater anyway.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

oh oh hold on what was the game where you typed in the NCC 1701 star trekky number plate thing? was it SWIV?

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 13:46 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, mainly pokes, but some had cheat codes.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 13:47 (nineteen years ago)

and i also remember on Lotus, the security pass was the ability to match up tyre markings with page numbers. and i copied the game for a mate and drew all the markings by hand. haha wot a twerp!

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 13:47 (nineteen years ago)

pressing the Break key on Mastertronics "Rescue" menu screen resulted in what at first looked like a reset, but then a screen of some obscure old ibm system appeared. you couldn't do anything on it, it just went back to the game if you pressed anything else.

not a cheat, but i found it myself. was kinda chuffed.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 13:54 (nineteen years ago)

[xpost] I did similar for Humans! Pages of drawings of stick-men throwing spears, rolling wheels etc... I clearly had too much time and no money when I was a kid.

Craig Gilchrist (Craig Gilchrist), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

(idkfa = all keys, weapons, ammo, armor)

> spectrum cheats were all pokesville hex loaded type ins anyway weren't they?

6031769 in Manic Miner (M Smith's phone number at the time)
followed by the room number in binary held down on the top row of number keys took you to that room.
(Writetyper does the same thing in jsw)

(35136 is the inifinate lives poke in manic miner. the fact i remember it 23 years later astounds me. was only 1 digit out for the phone number too)

Koogy Yonderboy (koogs), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 15:43 (nineteen years ago)

My mom's coworkers in her office used to pirate PC games for me when I was 10 or so. They would also be kind enough to copy the manuals for me so I could subvert the copy protection bullshit they had on all those old sierra games.

Slumpman (Slump Man), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 21:33 (nineteen years ago)

JAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

On the Amiga version of batman made the menu screen turn upside down and would confuse all the saturday staff in my local dixons

Merrini (Mezza), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 09:06 (nineteen years ago)

The map cheat on Doom was IDDT. You typed it once for the full map and twice to show bad guys.

"IDSPISPOPD" (ID Smashing Pumpkins Into Small Piles of Putrid Debris) was the original no clipping cheat which became IDCLIP in Doom 2.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 09:54 (nineteen years ago)

Type ICARUS FIGHTS MEDUSA ANGELS on the password screen :)

Does walking left at the first level of James Pond: Robocop count?

Wait, WHAT?? (I knew the C-H-E-A-T, L-I-V-E-S and P-O-W-E-R ones)

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 12:37 (nineteen years ago)

yeah i remember that, wasn't there a load of lives and collectables?

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 12:42 (nineteen years ago)

RoboCOD, u guyz.

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 12:54 (nineteen years ago)

Doh. That was an inevitable typo. RoboCOD indeed. yeah, on the first level you just walked left and there was an 'end of level' marker so you completed the level straight away. Can't actually remember if there was any other benefits... it was too long ago.

Craig Gilchrist (Craig Gilchrist), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 13:34 (nineteen years ago)

i seem to remember an early level on Lemmings that was similar - it looked really tough, and you got a hell of a lot of stuff to complete the level with, but the exit was, in fact, right next to you, and all you needed was a single blocker.

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 13:38 (nineteen years ago)

pink 'what' boots?

8CID

Hey i don't write 'em!
(beats me tbh as there was a 4 available to spell 4CID)

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 13:52 (nineteen years ago)

oh yes it was an end of level marker, i think if you jumped over it you might have found an extra life too.

great game btw, one of few amiga games i completed. Astounding to think we used to play games with no save option.

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 14:17 (nineteen years ago)

i know! i can't imagine it now.
