has been tracking recent legal efforts in several U.S. states to increase the penalties of selling games deemed "violent" or "mature" to minors....something that they can't do by law already. Ahnuld already has a bill in front of him to sign, which makes it interesting in light of his connections to the movie & game industries.
the kicker is, all these efforts do the standard "but think of the children" angle, and some(e.g. Jack Thompson) even go out of their way to talk about how "these violent games are marketed to children!!!11!" has anyone ever actually seen a heavy game like GTA:SA or Manhunt aimed at the pre-teen market? or is this the kinda thing like cartoons or comix where any media previously relegated as "only for kids" gets attacked when they start offering stories for older consumers?
The fun thing about this is certain DLC-type Democrats like Hillary Clinton or Joe Leeb who come out in favor of this stuff, and then go to fundraisers held by gamer lobbyists(yes, they exist now).
