Pokemon (all gameboy versions combined) -- 75 Million
Super Mario Bros -- 40M
Pokemon (all GBA versions combined) -- 31M
Tetris (Gameboy) -- 30M
Duck Hunt -- 28M
Super Mario World -- 20M
Super Mario Land -- 18M
Super Mario Bros. 3 -- 17M
The Sims -- 16M
Gran Turismo 3 -- 15M

I own 8 of these (no Pokemon for me). Duck Hunt is easily the worst, only making the list because it was included with most NESes sold. and lookit all that Nintendo!

I have owned 8 of these at some point (never duck hunt, although i had SMB on all stars, which counts i guess, and also sims, because i t0rrent3d it). I think I gave away GT3 after playing it for like an hour or two. I liked GT2 better, and even then... meh. For driving games... where's Mario Kart :(

I just spent two minutes sitting here going "30 million copies of gameboy Tennis? How is that possible?"

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 4 February 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

Hahaha!! That game was great-- although I liked Gameboy Baseball more. In fact... Gameboy Baseball was one of the best baseball games ever. Thank you for accidentally reminding me of that... I have to go on a ROM hunt now.

Why are all the Gameboy Pokemons combined but not all the Super Mario Bros?

polyphonic (polyphonic), Sunday, 4 February 2007 17:53 (eighteen years ago)

Gameboy Pokemons = Red version, Blue version, Green version (Japan), Yellow version, I presume

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 4 February 2007 19:42 (eighteen years ago)

Well, those are the ones that *should* be grouped together at any rate. In that case it's not 75 mil but it's still more than SMB.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 4 February 2007 19:44 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah I grouped Gold/Emerald/Fuschia/etc too. Didn't know they were different.

Huh? Why did San Andreas suddenly sell over 200K in Japan in one week? Did it just now come out there?

Marmot (marmotwolof), Sunday, 4 February 2007 21:31 (eighteen years ago)

i am uneasy with the pokemon games, because even in the same generation (red/blue etc) there are incentives for people to buy both because they aren't exactly the same game, which inflates sales figures. there is no incentive for someone who owns smb to buy another copy, unless the first one fails.

(although i guess this is part of the success of pokemon!)

and yeah, san andreas only came out there a little while ago

webber (webber), Sunday, 4 February 2007 22:23 (eighteen years ago)

Does that Sims listing only include Sims1, and all its expansions? I wouldve thought it would be more than 16M but I cant find any figures online that have good cites to back them up, just forum posts from people talking out of their own bums (er present company excluded!)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 5 February 2007 01:37 (eighteen years ago)

maybe they don't count the shitty ports of the sims?

UART variations (ex machina), Monday, 5 February 2007 02:57 (eighteen years ago)

I was all like what about myst, then I saw NO copies sold in Japan?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 5 February 2007 03:08 (eighteen years ago)

maybe they don't count the shitty ports of the sims?

Huh? Why did San Andreas suddenly sell over 200K in Japan in one week? Did it just now come out there?
