Did anyone get this? Just bought it now - looks good but not sure how long this will keep me entertained

Yeah, I picked this up and I'm not exactly sure why, except maybe that I have a hard time resisting racing games, plus I wanted to see how they recreated my hometown.

I haven't yet played it very much (just a few hours?). It's not a bad arcade racer, but there's also so far nothing about it that has really grabbed me. I do get a little annoyed with how often they call you to do a race. There's probably a way to turn that off, like in GTA4, which I should probably do. I'm also not sold on the control scheme. The triggers just feel a lot more natural to use for gas and brakes, instead of the sticks - maybe there's a way to change that too? The sandbox racing itself is better than the current Burnout, but the world is less compelling. The story aspects - a little immature / a little annoying.

yeah you can change the controls (ie make them like in GTA). I did that immediately.

Thanks - switching the controls helped some. Still, after racing around for another hour, there's something just a little off, something stopping me from really enjoying the game, but I'm not sure what it is. Part of it may be, other than green races, I pretty much always lose & the races are kind of long & a little bit boring (very samey?). I guess a big part of the game is unlocking better cars, and upgrading so you can beat those races? I did just trade in my car for a bike and that's kind of interesting - it seems faster, but it's also easier to have a major wipe-out. Finally, I tried one online race, and that seemed to work really smooth - I was impressed, but the people I was racing all had earned great cars and I had my clunker, so I lost by a mile a two. Don't imagine I'll play this enough though to get the good cars :(

Yeah I relate to what you're saying so far. I can't put my finger on it but there's sth missing so far. I never get any real adrenaline rush during these races, never feel particularly bothered about whether I win them or not. Maybe this will be different when I start playing online.

two weeks pass...

so the solo gameplay is still pretty limited, but i've been rocking the shit out of the "keep away" online mode. Awesome
