Crash Commando (PSN)

Tried this out this morning and it seems pretty great fun. Basically it's a competitive multiplayer shooter take on a Contra / Metal Slug / Bionic Commando game with maybe a dash of N+. The online component seems to work fine (no lag in the few games I had time for) and uses bots to fill up extra slots (not sure if you can turn bots off) & the bots are really good. Can also be played offline. Seems as frantic and fun as Call of Duty deathmatch (at least I kind of got the same feeling)! But in awesome 2D! Unfortunately, I've yet to try out the other modes... objective & team deathmatch, but am looking forward to 'em. The game also has vehicles and stationary guns, so a dash of Battlefield too, so plenty of variety. Seems easily worth the ten bucks they are asking. Should make for a nice filler game to have on the hd.

Looks like a really high budget Soldat!

I never played Soldat, just watched a youtube video, but yeah, it does look a lot like that. CC probably plays slower. I'm having fun with it, but it's surprisingly hard at times. The aiming is done like peggle, but since your targets are always moving, flying around and the like, I'm finding shooting people to be pretty challenging. Some weapons are one hit kills, if you get your target dead on, but most of the time you have to hit a enemy multiple times and more if they have an armor pick-up. Some people on there are already really good at it though too, which is frustrating.

grenade launcher is far and away my favorite. nothing better than blindfiring a grenade into the air and watching it drop on some unlucky schmoe, although pegging someone with an evil bounce is pretty great in its own right. I have to force myself to play other weapons just for the XP!

The game has just the right amount of variety to keep it fresh w/o overcomplicating things. It's a pretty awesome little game. Some people are scary good at it though (I'm average at best now). Getting the tank or even the jeep on some of the smaller maps when they're crowded is maybe too great of a way to score some easy kills? I keep switching between the different weapons - still haven't found a favorite.

Oh man. I love Soldat. I want to try this game. IT LOOKS SO MUCH THE SAME.

Downloaded this last night, first impressions are that it looks pretty good fun. Only played a few singleplayer levels so far - finding aiming, and controls in general, pretty tricky at the moment. Fully expect to get totally slaughtered on multiplayer later tonight.

ordinarily I would agree with you, but CC is one of those games where your cup runneth over with amazing little moments of testosterone-charged dude-shooting-ness that it just feels like a shame. as it stands right now, I'm just hurling slanderous invective at my TV.

OMG just downloaded this (a little late to jump on this wagon) but I'm loving it. Bots (that are actually good) as stand-ins are the best.
