expecting a lot of debate about the merits of o.g. NES dance aerobics btw

Lamp, Saturday, 10 January 2009 07:47 (sixteen years ago)

basically i'm thinking this could be ilg's WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT but instead of fictional characters like abraham lincoln its nes games and instead of fighting for survival they're fighting to be the raddest video game

Lamp, Saturday, 10 January 2009 07:48 (sixteen years ago)

It's not the best game on this list, but man did I like Hogan's Alley as a kid.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Saturday, 10 January 2009 08:11 (sixteen years ago)

if metroid OR og zelda come in any lower than third place I'm deleting ILG

TOMBOT, Saturday, 10 January 2009 08:17 (sixteen years ago)

fuk that, Punch Out ftw. no game has ever been more fun to learn how to play.

jamescobo, Saturday, 10 January 2009 08:59 (sixteen years ago)

much better question would be the worst of this list.
As this is like asking who you would save in a fire: mom/dad/sis/bro/cat/dog, I'm refraining from a vote.

more ign'ant than thuggin', surely (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 10 January 2009 13:44 (sixteen years ago)

voting for Punch Out but yeah, Zelda, SMB, Dragon Warrior...

I could go for some Gumshoe around now.

Euler, Saturday, 10 January 2009 16:20 (sixteen years ago)

some dope games that ppl might not be aware of:

excitebike: serious fun good controls should probably dl vc version

faxanada: crazy wtf game as kid i didnt really get the story just superchallenging adventure/platform ish totally badass. better than zelda II 4 real

golf: best sound effects in a video game imo

cobra triangle: i would play racing games if they were as fun as this and had actual shit to do like the boss battles in this game

Lamp, Saturday, 10 January 2009 18:51 (sixteen years ago)

I used to have that poster! Ah memories. It is too hard to choose... leaning towards Punch-Out, but Zelda and Metroid...

Nhex, Saturday, 10 January 2009 18:58 (sixteen years ago)

Anticipation
Faxanadu
Barker Bill's Trick Shooting
To The Earth
Short Order/Eggsplode
Super Team Games
Dance Aerobics

I don't think I've played any of these.

ninja gaiden series my favorite nes but that's for personal geek reasons - I'm a huge punch-out fan too but c'mon. zelda owns all these other games easy.

J0hn D., Saturday, 10 January 2009 21:54 (sixteen years ago)

i always liked kung fu too - voted metroid

johnny crunch, Saturday, 10 January 2009 21:55 (sixteen years ago)

Faxanadu is great! it's a way better NES side-scrolling adventure than Zelda II. plus I'VE USED MATTOCK:

jamescobo, Saturday, 10 January 2009 22:21 (sixteen years ago)

Faxanadu is a major great game; Anticipation was a fun party thing.

PROUDLY cast my (extremely insincere) vote for Anticipation.

did anyone here ever actually have the Power Pad???? a piece of videogame history i was sadly unaware of... bandai rereleased it for the wii in japan my friend has it and it is awesome it would be more awesome if we could get a NA release on vc for some of the old bandai/nintendo family fitness games.

the good thing is that these classic games are still really cheap on ebay and craigslist

Lamp, Sunday, 11 January 2009 18:39 (sixteen years ago)

My sister's friend's older brother had one when I was a little kid. I asked him to get it out once, and he gave me a massive eyeroll. Now that I think about it, that was probably one of the first massive eyerolls I remember being directed toward me.

Mario Bros. 2 bcz it is the only game on this list I ever beat.

We did have a Power Pad! When we got our NES it had Power Pad, the Zapper (not sure if this was its proper name or if this was just what my family called it), & SMB 1. Plus Duck Hunt and Super Team Games, the one for the power pad. It was a track & field type thing. Hardest were ones with jumping, such as the long jump and hurdles. Naturally, everyone eventually makes the discovery they can just step off the pad for the long jump and then step back on once the character on the screen has traveled a satisfactorily ridiculous distance. Likewise with running: it was easier just to slap the power pad really fast, like speed bongos, rather than run properly. Thing was silly. All the rooms in our house were quite small so another part of the game was standing next to the wall and trying not to fall on the power pad while someone else was playing & have them beat you up out of anger.

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Sunday, 11 January 2009 19:48 (sixteen years ago)

I think we had that poster, too!

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Sunday, 11 January 2009 19:49 (sixteen years ago)

has anyone here ever played with the NES robot?

Euler, Sunday, 11 January 2009 19:49 (sixteen years ago)

Ah, it was called the zapper. What I've never seen, ever, is the SNES super scope.

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Sunday, 11 January 2009 19:50 (sixteen years ago)

Haha, I came back to post about the Slapping the Floor trick, but you beat me to it. Those were the two universally applied dirty tricks of the Power Pad!

2 5 (Z S), Sunday, 11 January 2009 19:51 (sixteen years ago)

we have a super scope the only good game to play with it is yoshi's safari

just ebayed dance aerobics + power pad

Lamp, Sunday, 11 January 2009 19:54 (sixteen years ago)

ROB? Yeah, of course.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:01 (sixteen years ago)

Man if I get laid off due to this economic crisis I will play ALL OF THESE GAMES TO THE END!

&U HAEV MY AXE LOL (Will M.), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 15:42 (sixteen years ago)

rc pro am and punch out are very similar for me, in that i can never get past a certain stage but it's never affected my enjoyment of the game, i just play up to that point having a good time and then give up.

Tracy Michael Jordan Catalano (Jordan), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 15:45 (sixteen years ago)

One of the most EPIC parts of me being a five-year-old was seeing my neighbor beat Punch Out!!!! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN I STILL DO NOT KNOW TO THIS DAY

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 23:54 (sixteen years ago)

I also saw him beat Kung Fu, which he called DOJO of SIN.

That turned out about as expected. The real question is, when you play Ice Hockey, are you skinny guys, medium guys or fat guys?

scourge of cords (Z S), Wednesday, 14 January 2009 00:39 (sixteen years ago)

cozwn, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 00:49 (sixteen years ago)

tho I could be wrong cause I remember thinking "any nes list w/o ninja gaiden is bullshit" & might have voted zelda, my memory for polls is nil so if somebody needs to call bullshit on my claiming that vote it's cool

I did play smb2 for about an hour last night tho

J0hn D., Wednesday, 14 January 2009 00:50 (sixteen years ago)

think the new ilx code counts tht as a vote

cozwn, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 00:51 (sixteen years ago)

kick ass, I wonder if it'll penalize me for considering Let's Scare Jessica to Death tonight instead of the new SVU

J0hn D., Wednesday, 14 January 2009 00:52 (sixteen years ago)

lol saved by low turnout

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:30 (sixteen years ago)
