Which of these RPGs on the Sonic Genesis Collection should I play first?

Bear in mind that the first Phantasy Star requires an unlock. As a Nintendo kid, I've never played any of these.

i seem to remember phantasy star iv is even better. havent played it in ten years though.

phantasy star iv is totes awesome nostalgia-wise but it's definitely on the 'not really a game there' side of 16-bit rpg technology, also the plot is only cool if i) you have played the first three ii) you are fourteen

not that long after this thread i played the fatal labyrinth successor, 'dragon crystal', a whole bunch. i like that game because there's an egg that follows you around inexplicably the whole time and if you get good enough to last several floors (which is hard) it hatches and it's like, oh, cool, i have a dragon

i kind of want to start a poll w two options

-literally all video game voice acting is awful
-im a primitive feces-eating rube

you need a third option: "I only play video games in the original Japanese"

Despite owning the PS3 Genesis collection, I've decided to buy the lesser-but-mostly-identical PSP version entirely because it includes Sword Of Vermilion. Plus I think the other RPGs will look a little less lame on a tiny Vita screen.
