As great as it is to see Far Cotton Casuals tear it up in the beta version (take that Swansea Jacks FC! Shut the fuck up and get back to Egypt FC Moro), watching Far Cotton Calcio bring triumph to the final version in a month's time is basically going to make me a hermit.

so, is there some kind of auction system to get players at the start? how does it determine how big your club is, fanbase, finances, etc? basically, i can guess it works when the season starts, but what happens up to that point? no amount of detail is too much, btw. anecdotes welcome.

You get 500k of sign-on fees (which I think is determined by potential) and 100k of weekly wages (which I think is determined by current ability), and you basically go searching through the entire, what, 400,000 player strong FM database for guys who you can fill your squad up with. It's first come first served, but there ain't much in the way in overlap because there's so many fucking guys. It also means you ain't signing any stars off the bat, the biggest names in my team are 33-year-old Nicola Ventola and that Assaman dude that QPR nearly signed over the summer.
