mostly because I need something to keep me awake @ work today
SEARCH- Ninja Five-O (Bionic Commando + Ninja Gaiden = epic win. I usually hate hard games but this is just such a treat)- River City Ransom Advance (no 2-player mode but who the hell plays 2-player GBA games anymore anyway? besides, they compensated by making RCR *even deeper* w/ more moves and items and stuff.)- Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (I actually like the DS one more since I played it first but this one still owns quite a bit- the last Spyro game (look past the license and you'll find one of the deepest brawlers this side of DMC. the combo system nearly justifies the purchase by itself.) - Minish Cap (v. possibly my favorite Zelda since the SNES one. those time-limit knights can suck a thousand dicks tho.)
DESTROY- Riviera (I don't understand the appeal of a lot of those Atlus ports but this one in particular leaves me scratching my head)- all those NES Classics cartridges (I mean the games are obviously unimpeachable but anyone w/ brains should just get one emulator)
also definitely definitely definitely search out the Gameboy Micro.

wario ware the first one is great, i got it earlier this year and basically did not move from one position for a train ride the length of the country (nb i live in a smallish country)
minish cap is a bit like a great faux-60s-rock album
hum. pretty much everything i can think of has been outmoded by a DS game.

Wario Ware is good but Twisted beats it with a bat. then again Twisted beats most things with a bat.
also speaking of Wario Ware, y'all heard about the Wario Ware toolkit that's coming out in Japan? basically you make your own minigames and upload them for other folks to dl over the intertubes. apparently ppl are already making WarioWare-quality stuff, too. needless to say DO WANT

never played AW and I probably never will since I'm too much of a pothead for strategy games.
also Astro Boy really is good (it might be my favorite Treasure game full stop - either that or Sin & Punishment) but that Spyro game really is better. it's not as long but the gameplay is completely unimpeachable. apparently the same team made a Spider-Man game for the DS which I really should track down one of these days.

I am kind of curious about Spyro, but I can't believe its story/universe can hold a candle to the entire epic Tezukaverse - besides the awesome gameplay, that whole element really pushes it into "legendary" status for me.
― Nhex, Friday, 17 April 2009 17:20 (sixteen years ago)
well then it'll have to be just the gameplay!
seriously, this is a game about a sassy purple dragon and yet I am only significantly consumed w/ shame using my name to tell ppl to go play it. it's just one of those super-refined late-in-the-life-cycle genre busters to a license which does it no favors, like those Disney games for the NES or the TMNT game for the GBA. you will theatrically roll your eyes with abandon, but then all of a sudden you're like VIDEO GAMES FUCK YEAH.
