S: RPGs where you can steal everybody's shit and sell it at profit

Not just random chests found in bedrooms and stuff, I'm talking where you can lift anything not nailed down and fence it with the shady dude w/in town limits

Note: I love these games. There's a perverse thrill when you're in the standard RPG 'Just Starting Out' phase, and all it takes to afford a slightly less rusty dagger is a few bronze plates you snaked from the first house you encounter

I've got a mate who reckons he did quite nicely out of some precursor to WoW - I forget what it was called but I think it began with O - he sold shit for actual real-life bucks - I think he said he just went on and levelled up and then just got stuff he could sell. I dunno if I could be arsed to do that, but I guess he was a bit shut-in at the time.

i remember reading abt but never playing a game *ultima* for nes i think in nintendo power where u could rob ppls barrels and bookshelves for a phoneix down but u would lose moral stature in the game and it would have irg consequences always tht was pretty cool actually

Morrowind has serious IRG consequences if you get caught. There's a kickass sword hidden in Balmora that makes it well worth a bit of snatch and grab for noobs tho.

yah i think i remember pc rpgs having a risk/reward system for this kind of indiscriminate looting but it always makes me laugh that in console rpgs ur like

"oh hai isolated villager what up imma just take this 6 gp and antidote u got squirreled away k thnx 420 kill a goblin everyday"

"what do u mean u need this stuff... im out there risking my life killing evil wizards and shit all time and u cant spare the simple restorative u hid in a chest? fuck that"
