I just played Chrono Trigger for over an hour.
In Japanese. Not that I could read alot of it(one character speaks in an insanely thick and formal SAMURAI dialet, the royal family speaks high keigo which I oddly understood... not sure what that means. Alot of Kanji, too), what I did read is alot funnier, and I wouldn't have to read it anyway.I could play it in russian, swedish, arabic... DOESN'T MATTER. I can play it with my feet without looking directly at the creen. I'VE DONE IT BEFORE.
In fact I set the battle modes to harder ones just for more of a challenge.THE ATTACK NAMES ARE DIFFERENT AND IT DOESN'T MATTER.I haven't played it in years and I can just go "Oh, now I need to do that, so I'll press this sequence of buttons and kill"SPINAL FUNCTION.If I did a blood transfuction I'm sure the recieving human(in addition to getting high from all the meds) would BE ABLE TO PLAY CHRONO TRIGGER.
That's not very long, either. I used to do 4-5 hour stretches. I don't remember how long it took to beat lavos when I'm SUPPOSED to lose...
I've seen all 11 main endings and variations of most of them.I used to level up by playing the game through.Fight the same series of wimps in the forect for an hour or two? I DON'T THINK SO. I think I'll BEAT THE GAME 3 times. The same way EVERY TIME.Fastest way to winning. Then I'd work at accumulating more items and becoming so strong NOTHING could stop me. But only after completing EVERY POSSIBLE SIDE STORY.
This was accomplished in part by a trick my brother (ex-in-law) found. He spend 6 hours fighting the same battle over and over.Steal the same item from the same monsters.I was FLOORED when I heard that.He had a save on the system with MAXED OUT magic power on EVERY character. Then I went on to bit by bit max every character as much as possible.
Then I lent it to my then girlfriend, and somehow that save was erased.it's wuite possible the fact that I had a Game Gear save on it that was so fucked it screwed the system, but she may (VERY DOUBTFUL) have deleted it on purpose, but I think she was ashamed of ACCIDENTALLY deleting it and lied. But I don't remember if you CAN just delete a save in CT....
This game was my sole entertainment source save random TV things for 2-3 years.THAT'S INSANE.I had an old-school Geocities site(long gone, I loved it) dedicated to subtexts and retardo descriptions of characters.I sprayed my hair the color of my fav character, I bought a replica sword like the one he carried, GREW MY HAIR TO THE SAME LENGTH.Used his name on EVERY message board, wait, they were all CHAT ROOMS then.Remember CHAT ROOMS?There was a CT chatroom I had regular DAILY meetings in.I SOMEHOW developed a crush on the webmaster until I saw she was really palsied and horse-like.Still cool. Not attractive.
WOW.This is the most meaningless crap I've ever written, but it's a bit of an insight onto how far into things I get.
Any CT fans?Anyone else have a similar past with a different game?

I was really really good at a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game when I was about 12. Then one day my mother decided that I played too much Nintendo and in a fit of rage took the entire machine out on to our back deck and smashed it to pieces with a hammer while I watched. That pretty much ended my video game career for a long long time. (;O;)
Also, I am really good at and really love Zelda.

I'm pretty good at 4X style strategy games like Civ. I used to be really good at this really old online game called Infantry, which was a top down shooter with Team Fortress style classes and drivable vehicles - there were different game modes but I was always good at the "Chaos" zones, where you were either constructing bases in ad hoc teams or rushing other people's bases. I got asked to join the top Clan in the game iirc, but it all fell through when Sony took it over and made it pay-to-play.
I lack the patience to finish 95% of the games I own. I tend to play more sandbox or casual stuff and don't go in for multiplayer, so it is hard to gauge whether I am "the best" at something or not. Besides however good you are at a game there is always some Japanese dude who is way better.
― ears are wounds, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 15:31 (sixteen years ago)
I remember Infantry! My friend used to play it while I watched since I didn't have a good computer and he didn't like sharing.

^best in the world at this. Or at least better than anyone who ever went into our arcade. They used to have it in the shop nearest our school and I would play for an entire lunchtime without losing a life.
I've just discovered this is on Konami Classics for DS, might have a wee go at it and see if I've still got the skills.
Was also v good at Sinistar, Robotron and Salamander.
These days I'm mostly rubbish at most things except Counterstrike.

Mario Kart '64: roommates & I had a sick rivalry during the summer of '98. It got so that the only true competitive element left for us was to try to outdo each other on time trials. Challengers would come & go, but no one could touch my time on Banshee Boardwalk, such was my acumen on that particular course.

― ya'll are the ones who don't know things (Z S), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 15:14 (sixteen years ago)
Your like 30 and your spending you're time complaining about Tubular on a forum full of other 30 yr olds and sprinkled with the occasional gay teen. Guess what I'm gonna be doing when I'm 30. Let's just say first I'll get up out of a 5000$ bed in my waterside mansion on the east coast of japan, awoken by the light of the rising sun that glorious island is nicknamed after. I'll gently lift myself out of bed so as not to stir my beautiful eastern european pale skin dark hair small boobs wife and go to my huge walk in closet. I'll come back out moments later wearing a really expensive italian suit. Strolling down the corridor I come into a room with glass cases full of the trophies of my achievements. I proudly look at all of them and then move into the next room, it's the room with a wall-sized HD display and walls upon walls of DVDs, mostly Anime but with a few Western classics throuwn in there. Jealous yet? Next I move into the kitchen and have my servant make me a breakfast, its usually pancakes with chocolate chips and whipped cream, but today... lets go healthy. Just a few slices of apple, Servant. Thank you. How delicious. Now I'm strolling into the living room about to make for the door so I can go out and enjoy my day at Comiket, but in the corner there I see something. I walk over by the 5000 dollar gaming rig, its turned off for now but later tonight I'll be playing Prostitute Farm Online, max settings and DirectX12. I begin to turn and make for the door again but then i stop and look at the black monitor screen (no less than 40 inches, btw). I just laugh. And laugh and laugh. I'm laughing because the guy who was 30 when I was a 17 year old pathetic ilx poster is still a ilx poster, meanwhile, I'm living the literal dream. All because I shoot for the top. Deal with it, bitch. YCS.
