so de blob is a ton of fun, but takes a step down from awesome to great because if there is anything more embarassing than a grown man playing a cartoony video game, it is when that grown man is standing up in his living room at 2 AM flailing around like a goddamn lunatic

yeah, why have a jump button when you can make me jerk awkwardly upward with a plastic stick instead, preferably smacking myself in the face w/my stupid nunchuk attachment or randomly hitting the pause button. dicks

Okami
not because playing it makes you look stupid, but because half the time the drawing controls aren't registered and it's very very infurating having to draw the same perfect circle 10x over before a bomb finally decides to appear and blow up an imp or whatever.

I quit Okami relatively early and sold it for that very reason; when I had to do the stupid blossom dance for the thirtieth time because I made the sun rise instead of a flower blossom I said,"fuck this shit."

I guess I don't see how waggling a remote looks any more ridiculous that clutching a joystick?

didn't have any problems with okami drawing controls at all. no button option for jumping in de blob was a stupid move though.

the waggle thing is just vaguely annoying, really not any worse than the "press this button over and over as fast as you can", maybe better. its the other pointless mechanics that bother me (jump button replacement in particular). like if you are going to give me the thumbstick to move around, don't make me do combat dodges by moving the nunchuk and wiimote sideways at the same time, just let me push to the right, ok?
i mean its fine to make the player do goofy shit in party games because thats kind of the point, but when yer just doing it to justify putting a game out on the wii, then its bad game design imo.

definitely incredibly glad they didn't force the waggle scheme for Punch-Out

It wasn't just the drawing mechanism that was aggravating for me either. When equipped with the divine instruments, swinging the wiimote at just the right time to do a string of 5+ hits on those scarecrows in dojo training was really hard. Never bothered learning any of the divine instrument upgrades as a result. Stuck with beads.
It's too bad, because it's a gorgeous game with a good storyline, and very much worth playing. I thought it was just my wiimote settings, but even tweaking those didn't help.

Drawing was finicky on the PS2 version as well -- I wish they had improved it, but it's no worse. Having to hold the wii-remote still in-between swings was just stupid.

i hated mario kart while 'steering' with the wiimote. just nowhere near the precision that i like in a racing game.

Still a solid game if you were using GameCube controllers, though, though I missed the boost-dashing style that was used in the DS version (as opposed to having to drag the corner for a bit before boost went off).

For Mario Kart I use/used the wii remote/nunchuck combo, and it worked great. Never even bother trying the wheel, but have heard people have become real wizards with it...
