on-line works fine w/ friends, but random connections are almost impossible to get. but w/o chat* that's basically just like playing the computer anyway, so who cares.

Right - I don't want to chat with strangers, but I do like the ability to at least chat with friends. Playing with friends and having a chat is fun, playing with friends and not being able to chat = might as well be playing with strangers.

I don't have a favorite character yet but I'm leaning towards Peach and Meta Knight. Granted I haven't played much but I tend to kick ass with those two. I think pokemon trainer would be the most fun character to learn because squirtle is fast and crazy.

Yeah, single player mode was fun while it lasted. It's a fun game to play with friends mostly. Map creation was a good idea but it could have used more parts and pallets. Online wasn't bad when I tried it against strangers. You only have to wait about 3 minutes and people will be ready to brawl (at least here). Playing a friend with a friend code is where it's at. I had my phone of speaker while we played each other.
