I still have so many games I need to play. :(

Still need to play Assassin's Creed 2, Dragon's Age, and, assuming it comes out in time, Mass Effect 2. I've gotta say tho, this year has really been a disappointment after 2008. My favorite game of the year so far (Arkham Asylum) would just scrape the bottom of last year's top 10.

really liked it, actually kind of hard, which was a nice change from where i was at in the main game. operation anchorage however is awful imo

also Wipeout HD Fury if we're talking expansions

jjjustin - did you end up coming around on Fuel or is that one of the games you ultimately didn't enjoy... I seem to remember you liking it then hating it... was there a phase three? I'm still considering giving it a shot.

i really like the gameplay, the mechanics surrounding it are kind of a deal breaker in a lot of ways. load times on races are INEXCUSABLE - especially since if you lose a race (and you will) it has to reload EVERY GOD DAMN TIME.

i think i am going to try to get back into it, because it is really fun when it isnt infuriating me.

def buy it for cheap tho, i would be pretty nonplussed if i had bought it for $60

Flower is worth buying if just to experience the one indisputable example of stupid shitty retarded-ass Sixthaxis controls done right. content-wise the game itself is almost painfully tasteful; I own multiple Belle & Sebastian albums but I can't help but notice that this is a game where you play a fucking flower dancing in the wind. it's just that there comes a point when the controls just click and you start having a three-hour Big HD Moment. ppl who cried at it should be flung into the sun though.

Oh! Machinarium = Great, gorgeous, and brutally difficult.

Also, let's nominate Monkey Island games. And tho I haven't played it, I've heard great things about Torchlight.

I've gotten a lot of new games this year but I'm not sure I've gotten any 2009 ones yet...bought a DS and went into the back catalog, and o/w spent my gaming time playing 2008 games I got last year (Blitz 2, Bully, Saints Row 2---I have, but have yet to open, Fallout 3, also). So I'm looking forward to using this thread in three years or so to guide my interests then.

I have yet to play through the rest of IF Comp, but might as well nominate the top 3-5 games from that too?

definitely need to add Pixeljunk Shooter, that game is the business. also Half-Minute Hero and Hammerin' Hero deserve to be added; PJMD is still easily the PSP game of the year imo but both of those games are badass.

Updated list, I'll be considering votes for one game on different systems (i.e. PS3/360 Arkham Asylum) as the same unless there's a clear difference due to systems that affects gameplay (i.e. Madden for Wii/Madden for 360). I'll likely not be splitting hairs along the lines of Dragon Age PC vs console, even though they're pretty drastically different games, just cuz I don't need the hassle.
