A few of those are already out or coming this month but it'll probably be November before I get to them.
― marmotwolof, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 01:30 (seventeen years ago)

― zappi, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 05:19 (seventeen years ago)
Phoenix Wright 3
― abanana, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 06:25 (seventeen years ago)
Most anticipated (after Orange Box)... 1) Mass Effect 2) Super Mario Galaxy
Definitely... Ratchet and Clank Virtua Fighter 5 Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Probably... Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword Call of Duty 4
Waiting on reviews (some questions remain, but I'm hopeful)... Assassin's Creed Haze
p.s. Smash Bros. has apparently just been delayed until 2008
― Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 06:38 (seventeen years ago)
Contra IV.
Okay, Phoenix Wright 3 also. DS is keeping me poor. But man... Contra IV.
― Nhex, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:58 (seventeen years ago)
1. Rock Band 2. Rock Band. 3. Rock Band. 4. Virtua Fighter, Kane & Lynch, GH3, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Orange Box (which I got today!)
― antexit, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 14:35 (seventeen years ago)
Jeff, I thought Smash Bros was only delayed in Japan. It's everywhere?
― antexit, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 14:36 (seventeen years ago)
If Assassin's Creed is not great I will never play video games again.
Super Street Figher II Turbo HD Remix looks good but sounds ridiculous.
― That mong guy that's shit, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 15:04 (seventeen years ago)
That doesn't come out till next year.
― antexit, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 15:14 (seventeen years ago)
Is Contra IV coming out for DS? That sounds awesome.
(I haven't played a Contra since Contra!)
― Jordan, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 15:26 (seventeen years ago)
front mission remake for DS could be decent
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 15:27 (seventeen years ago)
Front Mission 1 is so insanely good, how can the remake suck?! Then again I played it with the fan translation, so maybe the real one won't be as good but I highly doubt that.
But yes... too many good games. I may not even be able to buy them all. I may have to break some law.
PS2: Chaos Wars (I haven't even beaten Persona 3 yet, though, and I played about 5 minutes of Growlanser 5... I dunno if I can go back to PS2! 360 ruined me!)
DS: Front Mission (can I play through it again?), Phoenix Wright 3, Super Collapse 3, Geo Wars Galaxies, Contra IV, FFXII Revenant Wings, N+ (whenever that's out), Panzer Tactics DS, Dementium: The Ward.
360: Beautiful Katamari, Every Extend Extra Extreme, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Omega Five, ikaruga, kane & Lynch
― Will M., Wednesday, 10 October 2007 15:55 (seventeen years ago)
see I can't even keep on the DS stuff. football season really takes away from gaming time
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:00 (seventeen years ago)
keep UP
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:01 (seventeen years ago)
good thing i have roughly 3 hours of mass transit a day!
― Will M., Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:03 (seventeen years ago)
I'm sure if Smash Bros. is delayed in Japan it will be delayed further everywhere. It's being developed by Nintendo right?
As to Assassin's Creed - initially the game appeared like it was going to be awesome and I was really looking forward to it, but after the recent demo failures and the general impressions I've been hearing - the game sounds like it has some serious problems to overcome. I don't know - but I've been slowly easing off my hopes for the game. Maybe it will be delayed?
― Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:46 (seventeen years ago)
Guitar Hero 3, Rock Band. :(
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 17:16 (seventeen years ago)
I don't plan to get Rock Band, but if someone in Montreal ends up buying it and needs a friend to play with, I'm totally there. ;)
― Will M., Wednesday, 10 October 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago)
I haven't even beaten Persona 3 yet
I got the good ending last night. Well over 100 hours.
― marmotwolof, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 22:04 (seventeen years ago)
Now that I know about Contra 4 I'm totally excited for it.
― Jordan, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 22:12 (seventeen years ago)
Interesting preview of Assassin's Creed that doesn't really offer any answers to whether they've managed to get the game to work or not, but does have some interesting tidbits, like 100 missions (though you only have to do 30something to finish the game) - sounds long and more and more San Andreas like
― Jeff LeVine, Friday, 12 October 2007 20:18 (seventeen years ago)
You all seem to be forgetting about Crysis.
― JimD, Sunday, 14 October 2007 14:37 (seventeen years ago)
I found out I may be getting Rock Band from a friend for FREE. This could be a total lie, but I am excited...
― Will M., Monday, 15 October 2007 14:49 (seventeen years ago)
the upcoming replacement for the 360 "retard pack" seems appealing to me. also lol at smash bros being delayed - this is on purpose folks, third parties bitched about nintendo titles crowding them out so big papa is giving them elbow room for christmas
― El Tomboto, Monday, 15 October 2007 15:51 (seventeen years ago)
GH3 & Rock Band for 360 to go w/ existing GH2 guitar and whatnots. I am not sure what Rock Band has done to make me nod and say "Yes, $170 is perfectly reasonable for a game!", but it worked. I suppose it's a great deal compared to getting all the bits seperately.
Mass Effect -= for the everything. Havn't played a meaty CRPG in ages.
Assassin's Creed - I really want to hype up for this; the environment / free-running stuff seems awesome but the combat and bizarre background (why can't it be a straight riff on history instead of a Matrix - style ZOMG it's actually the future?!?! thing) seems substantially....less awesome. Apparent lack of demo does not inspire confidence. Not getting this one before reviews hit.
Kane & Lynch - for co-op and inspired multiplayer Heist mode.
Call of Duty 4 - really enjoyed the beta / demo, full game will hopefully retain the greatness.
XBLA - Ikaruga, E4, and Rez HD (though the latter may be next year?)
PC - I already have most of the good stuff this year - Orange Box, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, etc. Not really wanting to drop many $$$$ on a new DX10 video card for Crysis, etc at the moment. Is it getting a console release?
― Matt D, Monday, 15 October 2007 16:41 (seventeen years ago)
afaik crysis will be pc only.
― Will M., Monday, 15 October 2007 16:51 (seventeen years ago)
Actually I'd be surprised if Crysis doesn't doesn't eventually make it to consoles. There have certainly been a lot of whispers. Just do a quick search and look at the results...

He goes on, "What you would not do is make Crysis on PS3, 360 and PC for a single shipping date, because we would lose the quality focus." ...

― Jeff LeVine, Monday, 15 October 2007 17:32 (seventeen years ago)
it can't be coming out before xmas, though, because they haven't even announced them yet, right?
― Will M., Monday, 15 October 2007 17:40 (seventeen years ago)
true
― Jeff LeVine, Monday, 15 October 2007 17:44 (seventeen years ago)
what the fuck did harmonix put in the drinking water?
― El Tomboto, Monday, 15 October 2007 17:53 (seventeen years ago)
what are you talking abt?
― Will M., Monday, 15 October 2007 18:17 (seventeen years ago)
people wanting to play third and fourth revisions of "be your own shit bar band"
― El Tomboto, Monday, 15 October 2007 18:35 (seventeen years ago)
you are truly the morbs of ILG
― Will M., Monday, 15 October 2007 19:40 (seventeen years ago)
I don't want to play that either Tom
― marmotwolof, Monday, 15 October 2007 22:53 (seventeen years ago)
Well, to be fair, I'd never pay for it... but I'd play it for free.
― Will M., Tuesday, 16 October 2007 16:11 (seventeen years ago)
1. I want to play it 2. I'd like to play it 3. I mean to play it
― antexit, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 16:20 (seventeen years ago)
If I end up getting a free copy from this buddy of mine, we will totally jam, antexit.
― Will M., Tuesday, 16 October 2007 16:40 (seventeen years ago)
BTW hot tip again, I got the Orange Box at Game Buzz, and it was 59.99 again! I asked the dude why, and apparently they have american distributors for a bunch of their games, so parity - money actually saved for us! Until our dollar dips, they are my favourite!
― Will M., Tuesday, 16 October 2007 16:56 (seventeen years ago)
I don't know what Harmonix put in the water, but maybe it was just that they created a game that's insanely fun to play on the higher difficulty levels. Maybe that has something to do with it.
― polyphonic, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 20:32 (seventeen years ago)
I think I just can't get past how bad the versions of the songs sound. probably if you're concentrating on playing you don't notice as much but urgh my ears
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 21:42 (seventeen years ago)
It's true that the versions are pretty bad at times, but the majority of the songs on GHIII and Rock Band are originals.
― polyphonic, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 22:22 (seventeen years ago)
Hey, I'll be playing the demo of GH3 as soon as Slutsky gets over here-- will post impressions.
― antexit, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 23:01 (seventeen years ago)
Guess what? More of the same.
The difficulty seems to have been ramped WAY down, maybe in a pitch to get the casual rhythm gamers when Rock Band gets all the gimp money. Maybe it's just the demo, but I do NOT want to be getting 250+ streaks on Hard the first time I play a song in GH. Big ups for Montreal stoner metal content, though.
― antexit, Wednesday, 17 October 2007 01:42 (seventeen years ago)
Are you talking abt Priestess? They are in, like, every game ever. It's hilarious.
― Will M., Wednesday, 17 October 2007 16:30 (seventeen years ago)
Wii Okami confirmed for 2008
― abanana, Wednesday, 17 October 2007 22:18 (seventeen years ago)
OK, not confirmed, just a rumour apparently.
― abanana, Wednesday, 17 October 2007 23:24 (seventeen years ago)
So did anybody who listed Kane & Lynch in here actually pick it up?
― Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 22:25 (seventeen years ago)
I intend to check it out at some point but in between every other Nov. game still seeking my attention, plus the lackluster reviews, i am putting it off. When I am extra bored due to the TV strike, I am sure i will give it a rent or something. I will have ot convince a friend to play through it w/ me on co-op, though. Sounds like that's the way to play (although the best scene has already been spoiled for me)
― Will M., Wednesday, 28 November 2007 22:31 (seventeen years ago)
I got it. Pretty crummy graphics, lackluster gameplay, and feels very much like same-old. The nastiness of it put me off right away, too. One of the first things that happens in it is a diner waitress gets shotgunned. This is very low on my list to play through.
― antexit, Thursday, 29 November 2007 00:58 (seventeen years ago)
Did you try out the online multiplayer bank robber thing? That at least sounded kind of interesting...
― Jeff LeVine, Thursday, 29 November 2007 03:18 (seventeen years ago)
I have Kane & Lynch. Love it, but won't bother defending it.
― marmotwolof, Thursday, 29 November 2007 13:48 (seventeen years ago)
You do? I really like violent and nasty games and was expecting to like it-- I don't mind overlooking a lot of the sort of stuff I mentioned. It's just the gameplay mechanic, especially the cover system, felt so kind of flat and not fun that I naturally drifted to the ten more compelling games this fall. Should I give it another chance?
― antexit, Thursday, 29 November 2007 17:27 (seventeen years ago)
Maybe I missed this sometime back, but are you games industry antexit?
― forksclovetofu, Thursday, 29 November 2007 17:54 (seventeen years ago)
No, just a devoted amateur.
― antexit, Thursday, 29 November 2007 18:17 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah I dunno, the guys I know that liked it pretty much liked it right away, so if you found it off-putting it might stay that way for you. I'd say if you paid money for it you might well try again before giving up, no harm in that.
I'm only a few levels in and not having any problems with the gameplay, but it's the characters I like so far, especially when Lynch is explaining himself after what he does at the bank. Also, nearly every single enemy I've shot so far is a cop. They could've called this game Millions of Dead Cops. Anyway, it's all somewhat amusing to me, but I know a lot of people aren't into it at all.

― Jeff LeVine, Friday, 30 November 2007 03:16 (seventeen years ago)
Haha that review was actually one of the things that convinced me to buy it. Seriously, telling me "every single person you play as or encounter is despicable and wholly abrasive" is not the way to convince me not to play something.
