Who would you compare Miyamoto to, in the context of film? Or Molyneux? Kojima? Jeff Minter? The Katamari guy? This amuses me to think about. I have some ideas but I want to hear other people's first.

Minter: Brakhage

Silly question, I guess, but I started wondering when I was writing this.
warning: i am a shitty writer and don't really have any ideas of my own, but jsut wanted to start some discussion on the subject.

Really? Interesting pick. I dunno if I would have given the guy that much credit ;)
― Will M., Thursday, 11 October 2007 21:35 (seventeen years ago)
I don't give Brakhage that much credit.

Haha, good point. I more thought of Lynch... some hate him because they don't "get it," some love him because they "get it," and some people hate him because the "getting it" is irrelevant to the quality of what's being offered, which just isn't the best.

i would say video game creators would be better compared to really creatively involved producers maybe?
― s1ocki, Thursday, 11 October 2007 22:01 (seventeen years ago)
Kojima = deep knowledge of firearms + stylized action = Michael Mann?
― Leee, Friday, 12 October 2007 00:26 (seventeen years ago)
The creatively involved producers might make more sense but I know way fewer of them because I am such a neophyte to both film and using the word neophyte.

Tim Schafer: Tim Burton
― abanana, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:32 (seventeen years ago)
Hahaha, yes. And/or American McGee = Tim B. But more likely Schafer.
Who's George Lucas? I am trying to think of a video game that was a piece of accidental genius, followed by shitty remakes and sequels that seem to affirm that the original genius was in fact a mistake. The closest I've gotten is Kojima (but this is probably due to the Blaustein factor-- the MGS games are still good, but without a good lead translator, the story truly suffered)

molyneux is the lucas

Suda 51: a cross between David Lynch and Takashi Miike.
The game that most tempts me to buy a Wii is No More Heroes. This surprises me as a semi-hardcore Nintendo guy.
