XBOX 360 QUESTION

SHOULD I BUY THIS:

XBOX 360 w/ 6 games and 2 wireless controllers (one was purchased from a friend and has a faulty RB button). It is already registered with MS for the 3 red light 3 year warranty. The system is fairly new (last 3 months) and is working perfectly. It is a Pro Bundle which includes the 20 GB hard drive and the MS headset.

The 6 games are: Halo 3, Half-Life 2: Orange Box, NHL 08 (slightly used, purchased USED from EB Games), Hitman: Blood Money, Skate, and Dead Rising.

FOR $400?

s1ocki, Thursday, 25 October 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

I definitely think you should. Also, you should lend and/or sell me NHL 08, Skate, and Dead Rising! That's a v. good deal. Get a receipt if you can though, and ask where it was bought.

Will M., Thursday, 25 October 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

can a faulty RB button be fixed?

s1ocki, Thursday, 25 October 2007 15:47 (eighteen years ago)

I doubt it, it depends on the damage, but in my opinion that bundle is definitely still worth $400, even with only one controller. If you wanted, you could probably resell those games for 40, 50, 30, 20, 40 and 20 dollars respectively, meaning the console is costing you like $200.

Will M., Thursday, 25 October 2007 15:59 (eighteen years ago)

I might actually be into selling you those games you want. How much wouldja pay for the 3 of them?

s1ocki, Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

ANYONE WHO WOULD EVEN ASK THIS QUESTION HAS TAKEN LEAVE OF HIS REASON

antexit, Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:12 (eighteen years ago)

How much wouldja pay for the 3 of them? ...he asks, after I've quoted the amounts he could probably get for them on Craigslist. That was stupid of me.

Uhh... how's 60 for the 3?

Will M., Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

EVERYONE ON THIS THREAD IS DERANGED

antexit, Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

I'M CALLING THE COPS

antexit, Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

$75?

s1ocki, Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

Keep me posted on whether or not you've sold them... I'll have to wait another paycheck before I'm sure if I can afford to buy 'em (this paycheck is pretty much devoted to fixing my DS and paying my power bill) :)

Will M., Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:33 (eighteen years ago)

why is everyone deranged antexit?

Will M., Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:33 (eighteen years ago)

there's also... this.

s1ocki, Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:43 (eighteen years ago)

i fucking LOVE that dude, i think i mentioned him in the craigslist hilarity thread.

I'M A SERIOUS AND YET FUNNY GUY, WE MIGHT EVEN BECOME FRIENDS:)

Will M., Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:44 (eighteen years ago)

oh and make sure the console you buy isn't xbox live banned.

Will M., Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:46 (eighteen years ago)

he sez it isn't... he sez.

have you seen that dude around the list before?

s1ocki, Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:47 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I've seen that ad specifically a few days ago. I laughed a lot when I read it.

Will M., Thursday, 25 October 2007 16:51 (eighteen years ago)

It's a good deal in theory. It depends on how reliable the guy is, mostly. I always buy new because I'm a rich idiot.

polyphonic, Thursday, 25 October 2007 17:07 (eighteen years ago)

We should hang, poly.

Leee, Thursday, 25 October 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

We can go yachting off the coast of Svenborgia.

Leee, Thursday, 25 October 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

I haven't been able to stomach the idea of yachting since I caught my skipper stealing food.

polyphonic, Thursday, 25 October 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)

it's the same guy selling both xboxes... sketchy??

s1ocki, Thursday, 25 October 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

oh, that is kinda sketchy... but you might even become friends

Will M., Thursday, 25 October 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

i hope so :)

s1ocki, Thursday, 25 October 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

three years pass...

okay the media sharing set up is some bullshit, doesn't say anything about troubleshooting.

following all the instructions, but media player on my laptop just doesn't see the 360 in its media sharing section.

the network map sees it fine.

the set up on the 360 is fucking hopeless, and made by three year olds or something.

any ideas? i turned off the firewall etc, but didn't help.

i tried setting this up a few years ago and gave up in frustration. that's all i got.

circa1916, Saturday, 7 May 2011 20:39 (fifteen years ago)

i just tried pingin it, and time out. could be my router i guess.

carpy deems (darraghmac), Wednesday, 4 January 2012 23:35 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah I have no idea how to use the Media Sharing.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 23:36 (fourteen years ago)

install PS3 Media Server on your PC or Mac. works like a charm, transcodes everything.

Nhex, Thursday, 5 January 2012 05:42 (fourteen years ago)

PS3 media server works on on 360?

polyphonic, Thursday, 5 January 2012 08:01 (fourteen years ago)

yup!

Nhex, Thursday, 5 January 2012 12:56 (fourteen years ago)

has everyone been following the brewing EA/FIFA hack xbox controversy?

a friend of a friend has just had his bank account cleared (£1100 spent)

afaik you don't have to have played FIFA for it to happen...

tebow the letter (cozen), Friday, 13 January 2012 21:42 (fourteen years ago)

goole, Friday, 13 January 2012 21:49 (fourteen years ago)

pat methamphetamine (diamonddave85), Friday, 13 January 2012 22:24 (fourteen years ago)

from what i gather this is just a brute force password attack? a significantly complex password should be safe, right?

pat methamphetamine (diamonddave85), Friday, 13 January 2012 22:26 (fourteen years ago)

ok someone please tell me that the dashboard doesn't look like an ad-infested piece of shit once i actually pay for xbox live gold

pat methamphetamine (diamonddave85), Sunday, 15 January 2012 06:25 (fourteen years ago)

please???

pat methamphetamine (diamonddave85), Sunday, 15 January 2012 06:26 (fourteen years ago)

The dashboard looks awful all the time, sorry.

Also you should be fine as long as you use a dedicated hotmail account for your xbox.

polyphonic, Sunday, 15 January 2012 06:44 (fourteen years ago)

People I know who are very diligent are being hit by this. It's all over the place.

No credit card details on file, but there's what $4 of points sitting in my account. Whatever, like I'm spending it anyway.

Autumn Almanac, Sunday, 15 January 2012 07:56 (fourteen years ago)

yup MS have fucked up here and they're handling it badly, insisting it's phishing

tebow the letter (cozen), Sunday, 15 January 2012 09:11 (fourteen years ago)

... and, it's just happened to me

tebow the letter (cozen), Sunday, 15 January 2012 15:45 (fourteen years ago)

only lost £51 but still

tebow the letter (cozen), Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:23 (fourteen years ago)

wtf! i feel for you coz. so one should actually be nervous about this

sonderangerbot, Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:32 (fourteen years ago)

especially if you've ever played an EA game (and not necessarily just FIFA. need for speed, burnout etc.)

tebow the letter (cozen), Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:32 (fourteen years ago)

that i have. though i just checked my account and the only credit card i had registered has expired

sake man. glad my deets are out of date (i lost my wallet and thus my bank card and the bank just closed my old account and opened a new one).

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:23 (fourteen years ago)

rinsed all the points (about 2300) I had sat in my account as well

tebow the letter (cozen), Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

don't think Microsoft will let you delete a payment method online if it's the only one stored. My card was still in date so I added Paypal and deleted the card, then logged into Paypal and cancelled the permission to send money to Microsoft

I want to live in a field

MPx4A, Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:26 (fourteen years ago)

i just tried to edit my existing card to have wrong information, and it won't let me put in a wrong expiry date? wtf. hope the fake security code went thru

goole, Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:42 (fourteen years ago)

so what do i need to check, to see if i've been compromised here?

Summer Slam! (Ste), Sunday, 15 January 2012 19:07 (fourteen years ago)

this is what my account looked like
http://i.imgur.com/UTp60.jpg
they still haven't given me the points back.

from what I can follow they hacked EA's accounts and/or forums and if you happened to have the same login pass to your xbox live account, thats how they got you.

microsoft is saying it was phishing but I am 99% sure that is bullshit.

ain't nothing nice (bnw), Sunday, 15 January 2012 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

brilliant idea: maybe limit how many gold packs someone can buy in a fucking day?

ain't nothing nice (bnw), Sunday, 15 January 2012 20:10 (fourteen years ago)

no way I was phished, unless it's an inside job at google

how much were you stung for total, bnw?

tebow the letter (cozen), Sunday, 15 January 2012 20:16 (fourteen years ago)

I asked the MS whether microsoft's stance was still that it was phishing and not a brute force and he maintained that it can't be a brute force and then started casting aspersions on EA which was kinda funny...

tebow the letter (cozen), Sunday, 15 January 2012 20:17 (fourteen years ago)

the MS rep*

tebow the letter (cozen), Sunday, 15 January 2012 20:17 (fourteen years ago)

I had bought however many points you get for like $70. so not that bad since nothing happened with my credit card/paypal.

hacker created a FIFA team on my account and that was all as far as I can tell aside from buying all those gold packs. not sure if that was a necessary step in the hack or not.

MS should realize this makes paying customers a lot more likely to torrent the hell out of anything they want. that's sure how I feel.

ain't nothing nice (bnw), Sunday, 15 January 2012 20:25 (fourteen years ago)

damn, this sucks... i actually went xbox instead of PS3 because i was spooked from the PS3 hack last year!

Nhex, Sunday, 15 January 2012 23:17 (fourteen years ago)

at least sony apologized for it

sonderangerbot, Monday, 16 January 2012 07:35 (fourteen years ago)

otfm. MS's attitude appears to be sucking.

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 16 January 2012 07:55 (fourteen years ago)

jeez guys, sorry about this. what a shitshow.

this is funny u bitter dork (forksclovetofu), Monday, 16 January 2012 20:31 (fourteen years ago)

Gave new heavy passwords to my EA account and Hotmail account just in case.

polyphonic, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:33 (fourteen years ago)

one month passes...

i finally got my refund. if you are being jacked around by their support I recommend googling the BBB in Western Washington state. you can fill out a complaint online and that will get your case escalated in a hurry.

bnw, Friday, 17 February 2012 03:56 (fourteen years ago)

i didn't even notice this thread until just now, but i got hit by the fifa exploit as well in december for about $200. my bank (and it was BoA, of all banks) was cool enough to reverse the charges right away; it took microsoft well over a month to investigate it and re-enable my account.

their account reclamation process is completely insane, though - i can't believe i literally had to login to hotmail using the email address to which my windows live id was renamed by whoever stole my account

scream blahula scream (govern yourself accordingly), Sunday, 26 February 2012 18:16 (fourteen years ago)

so i've been having an issue with my brand new wireless controller where the right joystick will drift to the left while stationary. i $hipped my controller to micro$hit for a replacement and the brand new replacement controller is showing the same issue.

xbox support insists that it must be corrupted game files (even though it occurs in most games, and one of my controllers works just fine) or a corrupted gamertag. has anyone seen this issue before?

o _o⃑ (diamonddave85), Monday, 27 February 2012 19:13 (fourteen years ago)

I have two new-ish controllers one wireless and one wired that I use on the PC, and they both do this occasionally, then they go back to normal as soon as you move the stick.

Dust, Monday, 27 February 2012 20:17 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, mine stops when i move the stick but it happens far too often to be a simple annoyance. also with a game like ikaruga where for some reason you can control with either joystick, a drifting joystick can be the difference between life or death
