seeing as red dead redemption is essentially just GTA: wild west, what other areas, aesthetics, moments in history, or whatever would you like to see them tackle

GTA: steampunk anyone?

The Crusades would be amazing, imagine Red Dead-style attention to detail applied to Assassin's Creed I's gameworld.

I'm not an Xtian but the Life of Jesus would be ace. Drive-by blessings, cops replaced by persecution squads, arcade missions to turn all the tables over in 2 minutes, epic 40-day boss fight with Satan in the wilderness, hot coffee with Mary M etc etc.

kinda bummed out that The Saboteur is supposed to suck as I would love a sandbox game set in contemporary Paris or France; or do it like San Andreas and have it be Paris, something on the Mediterranean like Cannes or Nice, and maybe something in the Alps (even Zurich or Geneva would work, they're French enough).

actually I would totally rock a GTA set in Mexico also, like the border but also Mexico City and say Acapulco or Cancun.

I always find myself wanting to be the cops in GTA games, so... a reimagining of Police Quest 1, with all the accurateish procedural stuff around filing reports and following correct protocols and shit. Start as lonely traffic cop, eat donuts, work your way up, make "moral" decisions about corruption etc.

They'd never go for it, but I wouldn't mind playing one of these without any guns. I'd like the multiplayer to just be dudes having dashing swordfights up and down castle stairs, swinging on chandeliers and climbing down tapestries.

one month passes...

Apparently trailer for GTA VI arrives in December. I've never played any of these games, but I own GTA V, and will get around to it eventually.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 8 November 2023 13:43 (seven months ago) link

The game itself is fun to play but the fifth one is where the stryline and dialogue's meat-headed """satire""" congealed into noxious misogyny. Unless VI comes out for the Switch (LOL) there's likely no chance I'll get to play it (I think I'm playing No Man's Sky for the rest of my days anyway).

Series peaked with Gay Tony for me, or maybe that time I murdered someone to the tune of John Waite's Missing You in Vice City.

calstars, Wednesday, 8 November 2023 13:51 (seven months ago) link

I thought that was really well done. Though I guess in this case Rockstar explicitly confirmed it.

We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.

Thank you,
Sam Houser

No interest in the Wild West (I didn't play RDR1 either). Plus their games don't feel good to play.
