Fave to play, or best, like, "character" (look, funniness, etc)?

Will M., Thursday, 15 November 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)

Capcom has a blog about the changes they're making to the characters in ST HD Remix:
http://blog.capcom.com/archives/category/super-street-fighter-ii-turbo-hd-remix

I played E.Honda the most in the original. I'm voting Chun-Li though.

abanana, Thursday, 15 November 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

Tony Hawk.

Leee, Thursday, 15 November 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)

I am straight up missionary vanilla when it comes to SF11: ryu FTW!!!

vote with your heart

Jordan, Thursday, 15 November 2007 17:09 (eighteen years ago)

my go-to guys (in order):

-Ryu (I don't even use the fireball/uppercut, just the kicks and throws!)
-Chun-Li
-E-Honda (only on versions where you can slide around while hundred-hand slapping)
-Blanka every now and then
-maybe Vega if I'm fucking around

Jordan, Thursday, 15 November 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

i got good with guile, for a while

gff, Thursday, 15 November 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

If I'm playing Hyper Fighting, it's Zangief. If I am playing Turbo, it's Sagat. Fei Long is a fave of mine although I am not very effective w/ him. Of course Ken/Ryu mean brainless wins (not to say they're to good, just really easy to use after years of SF). Used E. Honda for a while in the version where his slap is broken and he can move fwd while using it. But then we banned his fwd slap!

Picked Fei-Long for combination of hilariousnesss and fun to play, but Zangief and Sagat are my faves to play overall... the Z for finally landing that one spinning piledriver that changes the match, and Sagat for "TIGER! TIGER! TIGER UPPERCUT!"

Will M., Thursday, 15 November 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

Chun Li for her brawling abilities -- her special moves were useless (though her fireball animation was the bomb in SSFII), but her throw-rate and forward kick were unstoppable.
Ryu because he's Ryu.
Ken because he's not Ryu and I loved the flaming dragon punch in whichever version it was, and like, the only multi-hit combo I could ever pull off was to cross someone up with a roundhouse into a fierce DP.

I always admired a Honda player who could unleash a TORRENT of OINK-OINK torpedoes.

I've pulled off the spinning piledriver like once in my whole life. ;_;

Leee, Thursday, 15 November 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, chun-li had the awesome mid-air throw and the wall-jump. the lightning kick was pretty sweet in a corner, too.

Jordan, Thursday, 15 November 2007 17:59 (eighteen years ago)

This is either Chun-Li, Rolento or Sakura.

HI DERE, Thursday, 15 November 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)

Chun-Li is my favorite to play as and look at. I get her confused with Xiaoyu from Tekken sometimes but that doesn't matter because I also could kick a bunch of ass with her, too.

nickalicious, Thursday, 15 November 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

Did everybody else know one guy who would play as Blanka and do the electricity thing over and over again and time it so you never got a chance to do anything else and you wasted a shit ton of quarters trying to bring him down in the arcade in the mall and your mom got mad at you for wasting all your money?

nickalicious, Thursday, 15 November 2007 18:44 (eighteen years ago)

oh, was that you, nickalicious?

Pleasant Plains, Thursday, 15 November 2007 18:47 (eighteen years ago)

I'd use fireballs on him :/ or... could you sweep him out of that? I forget.

Will M., Thursday, 15 November 2007 18:51 (eighteen years ago)

i knew one guy who would do it so i would hop back, fireball, hop in, shoryuken, maybe catch him with that as he stood up... hop back, repeat... she stopped doing it prety quick

Will M., Thursday, 15 November 2007 18:52 (eighteen years ago)

he, not she

Will M., Thursday, 15 November 2007 18:52 (eighteen years ago)

i think you could sweep him.

proudest sf moment: at the movie theater, i jumped in when two jerky older kids were playing. i picked ryu, but all the buttons were broken on my side except for medium and light punch. i still kicked the dude's ass.

xpost

El Tomboto, Thursday, 15 November 2007 20:32 (eighteen years ago)

but he also has the think i hate least... charge moves, ughu guhughuh

Will M., Thursday, 15 November 2007 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

wtf i meant the thing i hate most.

Will M., Thursday, 15 November 2007 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

I was always the guy so ashamed of my button-mashing idiocy that I just stood by the machine and watched the real gangsters play

El Tomboto, Thursday, 15 November 2007 20:53 (eighteen years ago)

The one fighting game I ever bothered to get competent at was Primal Rage where you were a dinosaur fighting other dinosaurs
and Bushido Blade

El Tomboto, Thursday, 15 November 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

i forgot about bushido blade, that game was pretty awesome at the time

Jordan, Thursday, 15 November 2007 21:03 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, man, did I love Bushido Blade.

antexit, Thursday, 15 November 2007 21:04 (eighteen years ago)

BUSHIDO. BLADE.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 15 November 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know what to think of you anymore.

Leee, Thursday, 15 November 2007 21:21 (eighteen years ago)

i was a samurai shodown man myself. does that make me indie?

gff, Thursday, 15 November 2007 21:55 (eighteen years ago)

I had a friend who got so bad ass at shodown I could never be bothered. That happened to me with a lot of these games, like, what's the point? There's very little I'm willing to spend a lot of time practicing on just so I can compete against my friends in a battle of finger grease.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 15 November 2007 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

like, the fuck I'm putting a quarter in that thing, you're just going to pick that blue hair dude or the chick with the bird and murder me in record time again. find some other sucker, you sadist.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 15 November 2007 22:00 (eighteen years ago)

I found I never practiced on my own, only when hanging /w friends, so it was worth it to "practice" because we were always having a blast. THe closest I got to solo practice was reading about basic gameplay things. Ie in the SF series, kara cancels or w/e they're called. Course, this means learning on console before you bring yr game to the arcade!

ILX System, Monday, 19 November 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not voting because the Alpha series has my favorite characters.
(my all time favorite characters are in the KOF series - Chizuru and her older sister Maki. Smashing buttons is so fun with them (and Elena now that I think of it))

OTM, the amount of times I was beat with dial-a-combos by some snot-nosed 9-year-old on Tekken or Killer Instinct or whatever fighting game was the flavor of the month made me give up after a while. Same with Halo 2 actually.

latebloomer, Monday, 19 November 2007 09:44 (eighteen years ago)

One time in maybe 1990 or 91 Slocki and I were playing the first SF2 at a candy store near his house, and I ran the game a half-dozen times in a row playing Ken, beat all the kids who were there when we got there, and then the kids all conferred among themselves, left the store, brought back ANOTHER kid who they must have gone to get at his house, and got him to beat me.

antexit, Monday, 19 November 2007 19:31 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, fuck Halo 2

Chun-Li forever.

Doctor Casino, Saturday, 29 November 2008 18:00 (seventeen years ago)

Ken was always a favorite until SSF2THDR came out and I noticed everyone in the world plays Ken. I'm trying to find a new love.
