who wants to start a game of backstabbing, alliancizing, and internet army moving? i played a game about a year ago (only one i ever played) and had a blast.

for those who aren't super familiar, it's a board game from... the 60s? 50s? where there's no dice rolling, it's all based on numbers, and you can't really win alone. you are one of 7 european superpowers in 1900 and you wanna own over half of the continent by the end, basically -- this is accomplished by a super-simple "n+1 beats n" system of combat.

the game's insanely easy to learn. you can probably learn it by playing around with the desktop client (jdip) and reading some online rules [url=http://www.playdiplomacy.com/help.php[/url](like these ones). I'd probably use one of the many internet sites that adjudicates moves for it.

Anyway it takes 7 people. i wonder if i've made a thread for this before? maybe i have? well let's try anyway.

potentially in; would this require taking up several continuous hours of my life or can it be done over a longer period of time?

i think ilx tried something like this a few years ago but i never got off the ground.

i have a friend who loves this game - but he's lazy and i've never gotten the chance to play; so i would try this. esp being unemployed, i has the time.

No definitely a slow burn game -- maybe 3 moves a week on Mon/Wed/Fri? That way it consumes precisely as much of your life as you want. Hours and hours of negotiations or a quick message to an ally and move every turn.

xp all we need is 7 people and then we can start it and then ARMS ARE AUTOMATICALLY TWISTED into playing!

If on the off-chance that 8 people (self incl.) want to play I don't mind moving to a referee spot, btw.
