If it's anywhere near as good as Killer7, I'm stoked.
― marmotwolof, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 07:18 (seventeen years ago)
I've been tracking this game since forever, so yes to all of this. The reviews are going to have to be MONSTROUSLY shitty to keep me from buying it on release date. I mean like Ping Pals bad.
― jamescobo, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 16:26 (seventeen years ago)
Seriously... okay besides Mario Galaxy and Guitar Hero, this is the #1 reason I want to get a Wii. Much like Killer7, I expect to be able to find it in bargain bins long after the system is dead. Hopefully it's even half as mesmerizing.
― Nhex, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 16:46 (seventeen years ago)
hahaha ping pals!
― Will M., Wednesday, 12 December 2007 17:00 (seventeen years ago)
besides Mario Galaxy and Guitar Hero
You do know that the Wii Guitar Hero is easily the worst version of them all, right? The sound being in mono alone (well, until they re-release a fixed version next year) should be enough to drive you to any of the other versions.

I know. But I don't own any next gen systems, and I only know friends who own Wiis. ...Yeah, I know. After going Nintendo only last gen, I'm already pretty wary of getting any system...

So, according to Best Buy this came out yesterday. Anyone get it yet?
― John Justen, Thursday, 24 January 2008 19:24 (seventeen years ago)
just bought it, will report back when i get a chance to play it
― John Justen, Saturday, 26 January 2008 01:39 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, i picked it up on wednesday. i'm at #6. my only problem with the game is that it's a bit too easy. but i guess that's cause i'm playing on the easier of the 2 diffuculty levels. i thought maybe the harder one would be really super hard or something.
oh, and the #7 guy = greatest character ever.
― Creeztophair, Saturday, 26 January 2008 11:10 (seventeen years ago)
Is this game as watered down for you Americanians as they say it's going to be in Europe? This upsets me a little bit, even with Nintendo magazine saying "We're glad they took out the nasty blood and guts". I don't think I am.
― melton mowbray, Saturday, 26 January 2008 12:39 (seventeen years ago)
I think the US version is the only one that ISN'T censored.
― Garrett Martin, Saturday, 26 January 2008 17:41 (seventeen years ago)
lots of blood in us version.
― Creeztophair, Saturday, 26 January 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)
Ok, so far this is pretty good, although the driving portion is sort of boring/pointless.
― John Justen, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 18:59 (seventeen years ago)
every review i've read so far complains about the driving portion. i actually think it's fun. once you master the boost/drift/boost technique, it's really easy.
― Creeztophair, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 23:45 (seventeen years ago)
Can't find this in stores around here. I don't know if that's because it sold better than expected, or that no stores expected it to sell, so none of them ordered it. I think I'll mail order a copy before it disappears completely... maybe Endless Ocean too...
― Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 04:16 (seventeen years ago)
i beat this, just now. the ending is wonderfully delightful.
― Creeztophair, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 05:37 (seventeen years ago)
So overall would you say it's fun? Is there enough variety in the assassinations?
― Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 06:08 (seventeen years ago)
variety?...well the characters all have their own unique style. and all the level's are pretty neat. but, to be honest with you, the combat is mostly the same throughout the game.
but it is a shitload of fun. a must purchase if you own a wii.
― Creeztophair, Wednesday, 13 February 2008 06:45 (seventeen years ago)
Rented this a couple days ago, and yes, it is awesome. Although kind of embarrassing to play when the wife is in earshot. I'm glad to see that Japanese inscrutability being applied to something that isn't sci-fi, an RPG, or mind-shatteringly "cute".

did you ever get round to this jeff?
― cozwn, Friday, 21 August 2009 08:51 (sixteen years ago)
Erm yeah, we talked about it elsewhere on here, but I can't remember where - reactions seemed split. Mine fell in the gave up on the game shortly after finishing the first mission (LOL) about one hour in maybe. Even though it was funny, I remember feeling (probably not true, but it's how I felt) that I got everything out of the game by playing that one mission and felt no need to repeat the same stuff 8 more times (or however many assassinations you had to do). Graphics and humor were pretty neat, except for the open world parts (half of the game) that felt empty and unfinished - just riding around the city after the first mission felt pretty blah, even in comparison to the first 3d GTA ten years ago. The problem for me, was even that first assassination felt repetitive, as you had to waggle slash your way through one hundred or more enemies to get to the boss you you had to waggle slash a few hundred times to beat - it was sort of exhausting. Things others aid about how the game is just more of the same of that ended up having me never finding the time/will to go back to the game and I eventually trading it in because of that. It's not horrible though, I was actually considering picking it up again and giving it a second shot, copies are plentiful at under $20 US, but it just never happened. I do really appreciate aspects of its style, visuals and j-pop punk otaku juvenille humor.

thanks jeff, that's kinda what I suspected from videos but you can get it so cheap now on ebay I think I'll take a punt given how I'm really enjoying killer7 right now
― cozwn, Sunday, 23 August 2009 22:18 (sixteen years ago)
Is this your way of confessing you've bought a new Wii?

the updated visuals thing is so weird, because one of the primary charms of the original is how janky and last gen it looks (even kinda last last gen at times)
― GO THICK AMOS! (jjjusten), Wednesday, 18 November 2009 23:07 (fifteen years ago)
predicting a lot of angry gta fans once they hit the driving parts too
― GO THICK AMOS! (jjjusten), Wednesday, 18 November 2009 23:08 (fifteen years ago)
