yeh this year has been good
fav by quite some distance is Demons Souls, took over my life for a few weeks, really happy a sequel (of sorts) just got announced
biggest surprise was Nier, has huge flaws but i loved the world & the way it kept switching up the gameplay - at one point it even becomes a text adventure!
the diagnosis & forensics sections of Trauma Team were great, i'd love a 3DS Phoenix Wright style game based around Dr Kimishima

kinda surprised to hear anyone rep nier; it was critically panned (except for the nyt http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/04/arts/television/04nier.html) and mostly undiscussed on this board. worth trying tho' huh?

well, like i say it has some huge flaws that a lot of people won't be able to deal with, so i wouldn't really recommend it to anyone unless they are feeling adventurous. i was curious & rented it, and got completely suckered in.

I'll second Torchlight on the Mac. Most played game this year except for FIFA 10 (which I only played this year, not getting the message it was actually worth it until long after release).
