Did you find any good guns yet Ken?

Oh boy, that's an upsetting screen shot. In my memory this game was BEAUTIFUL! But it turns out that no, it was actually fugly.

But still, the gauss gun! And also, that mission where there's some motorcade or something, and there are crowds of pedestrians lining the streets, and then you can go nuts and pile into the crowds with flame throwers and burn all the women and children and babies in prams...gosh.

yes classic game for running amok in.

but a rare game where i actually attempted the missions too.

so those endurance stamina thing? what do they do?!??!?!?!?!?

do you get killed less easily?

ken c, Friday, 18 January 2008 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

don't the bars change with the implants you get? like robo legs + robo arms = carry heavier loads and run without getting exhausted or something? it's been a long time :(

DG, Friday, 18 January 2008 15:33 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think the bars do anything.... memory tells me they were supposed to be adrenaline or something.

I loved this game. Remember the old cheat? You choose the frog symbol for your team, use the name "bullfrog" and voila credits almighty!

kv_nol, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 10:11 (eighteen years ago)

this owes everything to Ant Attack

Ste, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 11:38 (eighteen years ago)

maybe

Ste, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 11:38 (eighteen years ago)

There was also the "Marks Team"/"Mikes Team" cheats (as your squad name) that gave you tonnes of monies and you could just kit everone out with, if I remember the number of weapons slots rightly, 5 gauss guns and 5 miniguns each to go a-rampaging.

I just accidentally persuaded someone the game seemed to want me to assassinate, therefore couldn't shoot him. My only option was to take the agent he was following and lead him away from the group and suicide bomb him. Dude was my best agent :(

I read in the manual you only get 8 cyborgs for the whole game! I don't remember this, but then I never got very far on my own. Is this right?

I/P/A seem to do nothing, but the manual tells me they're very useful. I just do what it says.

Another thing: Is there a hotkey to select your whole team? 1,2,3 and 4 are very useful, but I can't work out how to get them all at once without using the mouse. Also, it'd be useful to grab two guys and have them go off seperately a la Cannon Fodder, but this seems impossible. Great game though - excellent playing it properly, where I used to use a friend's save and rampage through the crowded levels.

you guys realise that syndicate wars was like a bajillion times better! it let you put the resolution up to like 640x480!

DG, Sunday, 27 January 2008 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

Awesome-looking game, too. Had this kind of vector look, iirc.

antexit, Sunday, 27 January 2008 22:29 (eighteen years ago)

I'm still searching for any syndicate-related materials!

Bugger, three weeks after I chucked all my old PC Formats in the recycling, including series of Peter Molyneux Teaches You How To Program Like Games Geniuses Bullfrog of Syndicate Fame (translation: P. Molyneux tells you how to add numbers in C for six weeks, intersperses with enticing screenshots from Syndicate in the hope you won't notice that your fourteenth integer addition function is still in no danger of turning into something with graphics or interaction).

(Still, site guy was probably looking for something a little more interesting)

I think I've still got an Amiga Format book that's essentially a walkthrough to the game lying in the house.
I bought it for like 50p years after the game came out, but I never got round to actually using it.
