but edward also has long extravagant hair and poncy red clothes and plays a flute; if anything, he's just a sad twee guy. i'd go with, like... cloud. wishing he could be zack and shit and being all saddo about it and "hur hur i dont like you" when aeris is around, but then when she's not and tifa's all "unh" he's all "i miss aeris" and tifa's like "yo, you are trying WAY hard to be zack huh". a major plot point is "him having a mental breakdown" i mean COME ON. also he is a total pussy until zack dies saving his pussy life and cloud is like "i am just going to try and talented-mr-ripley your life."

Gotta say Squall. All is right in his world and he has two women in love with him and he just insists on being a loner. Cloud was messed up in the head but he at least tried to reach out and form relationships with the people/lionpeople he met. Squall cannot stand being asked to make a decision, or have any responsibility to any person that is not himself. He's entirely self absorbed and he's probably the main reason people don't like this game as much.

Still, the gunblade is so wonderfully ludicrous.

Sometimes Final Fantasy VIII seems like the cast of The Real World.

I just tabbed back to the game and Squall was sitting in the foreground with his head hanging down. So emo.

Just turned away from everyone else, like, "don't look at me!"

Now he's in a bed rolling around unable to sleep. This is not the first time this has happened.

It just got re-released on Steam, with some graphic tweaks and a few bonuses that are really cool. They include a trainer so you don't have to Draw any of the first two tiers of magic. Graphics also look great, aside from the low res textures and backgrounds, you can run in 1920x1200 and have really sharp polygons, plus all the particle effects and glowing lightning and all that stuff is HD and looks great.

Replaying FF4 now, for the first time in probably at least a decade. What a great story. I forgot how abruptly characters in your party leave and return. There's even several seconds in which a boss you're about to fight joins your party, even though you're already at full capacity -- for which Cecil gets roundly scolded a minute later. "Stop being so trusting, dumbass!" These constant switch-ups mean that the party tends to get dissolved just as it was getting really strong -- so much fun... and the script is so good!

Anyway, I love Edward.
