I'm currently playing Block Push Champion. It's not really in the same category of puzzle game, though.

Trying to do this one. Rule set not given but really not needed. It's all about which rows of numbers you drag.

hyperactive family feud
― Nhex, Saturday, 10 March 2012 20:09 (thirteen years ago)
I think there's a solution, though. I think you can do better than intuition. And sometimes what's offered up seems to become more abstruse, like it's testing if you really know what's going on. A commenter on his website suggested metonymic relationships being correct, but it's more than that.
― bamcquern, Saturday, 10 March 2012 20:11 (thirteen years ago)
But, yeah, there's a family feud thing going on.
― bamcquern, Saturday, 10 March 2012 20:12 (thirteen years ago)
I just had to pick between 1) person and 2) person (3 i can't remember). I picked the wrong person. ¯\(º_o)/¯

i think it is just which two words have a higher number of google search results.
― Philip Nunez, Saturday, 10 March 2012 23:28 (thirteen years ago)
It was tedious to check, but after awhile I got one that didn't work out this way. It was "sound." The possible matches were:
-web-violin-bridegroom
I chose "web." "Web" is the most common term in a google seach with "sound." "Violin" is second, and it was probably the correct answer (but this thing surprises me a lot).

yeah this happened to me. it wasn't '3' either. i don't get this, beyond 'sometimes metonymy and sometimes not', what is this 'family feud' business, is there some kind of plot implied or something
― desperado, rough rider (thomp), Sunday, 11 March 2012 20:00 (thirteen years ago)
oh, family feud is a game. that is not as interesting.

What if it records the associations of previous users and all the second-guessing we do makes some of the answers weird? And we throw our own idiosyncracies into it? I don't know. I looked at the big word list and it's huge. I think the program recognizes a word by its actual position in the list, and that's why one "person" will be correct and the other wrong.
― bamcquern, Sunday, 11 March 2012 20:34 (thirteen years ago)
The nottheinternet assembly thing looks like an abstract, pictorial programming language. The black, white and gray ones are the operators, I think. I wish the guy would open up about it, though.
― bamcquern, Sunday, 11 March 2012 20:35 (thirteen years ago)
wait, so there's more than one entry for 'person' in the big list?
― desperado, rough rider (thomp), Sunday, 11 March 2012 20:58 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah, I think "person" appears several times.
