First noticed it a few days ago. The picture started to go all distored. I tried jiggling the cable a bit on the back (thought it might be loose) and that seemed to help - then the distorion came back so I turned off the machine and let it rest for a while. Later it seemed okay, but tonight the distortion came back & when I tried jiggling the cable nothing happened. So I turned off the machine and when I turned it back on I got no signal. Tried a bunch of stuff, but still no signal. Even reset the video settings as suggested on that thread. It's weird because the box seems to turn on fine - just can't get a signal to my tv. Maybe the cable went bad or the connector? Don't really have the time to deal with it right now & I assume it's out of warranty since it's not the red ring problem...

cover your 360 in ice packs and hot packs and smoke a pack of cigarettes beside it until it RRoD's and send it back in. :)

but seriously, no idea-- have you tried using the A/V as well as the component connectors? flipping the "TV-HDTV" switch on the connector? if you have a vga cable, try that? borrow someone's connector and try that? bring the 360 to someone else's house and try that too?

Calling Microsoft customer service (at least in the US) is a real drag. You should all do it if you haven't, just to see how much fun it can be. 1-800-4MY-XBOX and go thru a few of the hip computerized menus with duder as your guide

when i sent mine back for repairs i got it back a few days later

yeah, to be honest, I could do with a break! last time I sent it off it took about 10 days; I can wait for fallout 3

damn, tough break. I knew a guy who accidentally got sent 2 xboxes when he got his repaired for Red Ring of Death.

btw that warranty was bullshit, they refunded the $80 (being the price of the warranty), I didn't really give a shit tho :|

I got RROD after three identical crashes on Fable II on Saturday, and then it started working again, although Fable still starts crashing sometimes

It lasted 19 months

I want an Xbox but everytime I read stuff like this it stops me putting the entire purchase on my credit card for no sensible reason.

I think there are different models which have differing scales of success; don't ask me how you identify them tho apparently the 'jasper' is the one you're looking for; 'zephyrs' are OK too

I still think it's an amazing console; they cost pennies now too, you can get a 360 for almost the equivalent of a new PS2 : /

I must admit I am somewhat consoled by the sleep paralysis and lockjaw to come.

I've really grown unaccustomed to playing PC games, I tried to play Counterstrike a week or two ago and was terrible at it. I also tried TF2 and let's just say the less said about that the better. On the other hand I have Half-Life 2 episode 1 that I've never given a shot so that might be an idea!

1 3/4 year old TV power supply blew out, I guess - $370 repair bill. Will definitely buy the extended warranty next time.

xps. oh i meant to qualify that statement Cozen, it's not again, it's just that it has been broke since last time I posted about it and what is getting old is not having an xbox. I didn't realise just how much of my free time I spent playing it.

Unfortunately it's a year out of the RRoD 3 year warranty, so it would cost $100 to fix. Fortunately (I guess) I also have a Japanese 360 and I was just able to attach my hard-drive to the j360 and I can sign into my US account and have access to my downloaded games and Netflix, and the US games I have and want to play (Like SSFIV) aren't region encoded, so they seem to work fine on the j360 too. So I guess it's not too big of a deal (until my j360 dies).

My xbox has started having freezing problems. No RROD yet, but it feels like just a matter of time. :/

if yr box is less than three years old you definitely are (though i believe they should repair RROD indefinitely, as its obv. a design fault). today i need to get my ass in gear and organise the ups pickup of my broken box...

I'm not sure that my box is less than three years old, but I think it's been less than 3 years since my last RROD which was also extended warranty covered.

So in your guy's experiences, how long after they post that they're shipping it back does it take to reach you? Cause they said they were shipping it back on Monday, and it's Wednesday and UPS still says Billing Information received but that it hasn't even been picked up yet.

My 360 won't read any discs anymore. I had the laser replaced once before, but I think it's time to get a newer system. But everyone is sold out of the 250gb one! Argh.
