10 years ago this would be FF easily. but excepting FF12 they have really fucked up the franchise.

in terms of 'actually played and enjoyed' final fantasy, although i feel like i want to put that enjoyment behind me somehow

i've never played any dragon quest game (save the ps2 one) for more than like ... ten minutes. used to get them confused with breath of fire. but i think i could probably more enjoy myself immersing myself in them for a few weeks than i would the ff games, for some reason.

the success of 7 kinda cursed the final fantasy franchise whereas dragon quest games have been able to slowly perfect the dragon quest platonic ideal

what I don't get is why they refuse to translate Dragon Quest Monsters 2 and stick it on the e-shop, the original was a God Damned Delight and it's a shame that the sequel will forever remain unknowable
