i thought i'd spent a few hours on it over the past week and then by accident i found the place in the menu where it records how long you've spent and it turned out to be over 24 hours

there have been a fair few iterations in terms of content since i last played it. that version i'd figured out how to beat in less than 24 hours and i could beat it in a half hour. i have yet to get halfway in this new version, i think.

it now has weapon modding, for example, and 'rare' 'uniques' which may drop in-dungeon. which feels kind of ... counterintuitive. and a lot more 'traits' and even 'character classes'. i'm not sure how i feel about this.

i mean, the original appeal of it was that it managed to approximate the feel of Doom incredibly well despite looking like this:

and now i guess it is a roguelike with a 'doom theme'
