nobody on this yet?

Caught the Microsoft and Sony conference yesterday on youtube, which featured the usual over enthusiasm for kinect although they appeared to be concentrating a lot on voice control this year.
I did like the SmartGlass idea, but only if you can use it with all smart phones.
Also South Park RPG looks super

Sony didn't do much with motion control thank god, played up Vita a bit. AC3 ship section looked ace. Did like the look of Last of Us.

Nintendo in five hours

PSOD (Ste), Tuesday, 5 June 2012 10:53 (twelve years ago) link

too busy to follow it this year, although ms's new content delivery thingo will be stellar if it's not geocrippled

really underwhelming so far, mainly because everything MS & Sony had was leaked before. star of the show easily Ubisoft's Watch_Dogs. thought Sony had a terrible showing for Vita tbh, and considering how badly that thing is selling they needed to show a hell of a lot more.

here's a link to the Watch_Dogs Demo btw http://youtu.be/FcMRkyoHKeA

some questionable turns of phrase (particularly the title) but I like the article

Oh man that looks amazing (xpost)

My housemate's just finished working on Need For Speed: Most Wanted on the iOS and its gotten some good E3 press, he's said.

I presume the new games-enabled apple tv will be announced separately

that's not kewell (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 01:25 (twelve years ago) link

hopefully that's his next major project

Not that I have any interest in the Wii U, but the few write-ups I've seen about Arkham City on it make it sound like there can be some well done integration of the tablet.

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 01:27 (twelve years ago) link

i don't know, still feels like added-on. don't really see why it needs to be made at all. hard to imagine that swinging around that weird controller is going to feel right... but who knows, nintendo's surprised us before

generally this E3 is pretty weak. i think i was only really interested in that Ellen Page/Quantic Dream game

Nhex, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 01:43 (twelve years ago) link

I presume the new games-enabled apple tv will be announced separately

? I meant for the iphone/pad. They refer to it as on iOs, isnt that right?

Pureed Moods (Trayce), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 01:59 (twelve years ago) link

I meant generally, apple chose not to announce its new home console this week

that's not kewell (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 02:05 (twelve years ago) link

o rite, thought it was some comment on what i'd said nm carry on.

the last of us looks ridic......

༼◍ྀ ౪ ◍ི ༽ (cozen), Thursday, 7 June 2012 21:59 (twelve years ago) link

Apparently somebody had to badger Nintendo into announcing that they were working on a new Fire Emblem game for the 3DS, a title they neglected to mention at their presser for some reason.

Dreaming in Infrared (kingfish), Friday, 8 June 2012 02:38 (twelve years ago) link

no redesigned 3DS = no sale

Nhex, Friday, 8 June 2012 02:44 (twelve years ago) link

they have a mobile event in like a month. Expect more 3DS stuff then.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 8 June 2012 02:47 (twelve years ago) link

oh, cool.

Nhex, Friday, 8 June 2012 04:16 (twelve years ago) link

i keep seeing accounts of the square enix lineup that i just don't know what to do with

thomp, Friday, 8 June 2012 04:24 (twelve years ago) link

square enix ... hitman ... tomb raider ... you can't go home again.

thomp, Friday, 8 June 2012 04:25 (twelve years ago) link

was hoping "watch_dogs" was a passive ambient version of nintendogs.

Jesu swept (ledge), Friday, 8 June 2012 11:03 (twelve years ago) link

Watch Dogs totally had me enthralled until it turned into an FPS

EZ Snappin, Friday, 8 June 2012 15:37 (twelve years ago) link

watch dogs looks impressive. depends how scripted/variable it is i.e. the hitman series.

bnw, Friday, 8 June 2012 16:30 (twelve years ago) link

ok just watched the 10 minute video of watch dogs. jaw dropping.

Nhex, Saturday, 9 June 2012 03:00 (twelve years ago) link

one game that snuck under the radar is Project P-100, developed by Platinum for Nintendo
kind of a Viewtiful Joe/Pikmin/roaming beat-em-up? looks fun!

zappi, Saturday, 9 June 2012 23:09 (twelve years ago) link

See that looks actually compelling, something I want to know more about.

Wii U(God what a dumbass name) controller better not actually force me to remove my hand from holding a stick & buttons to tap screen shit.

Also, the gameplay footage of Lego City Stories looked cool

Dreaming in Infrared (kingfish), Sunday, 10 June 2012 18:25 (twelve years ago) link

chiming in with my opinion on watch_dogs: whether or not gameplay is good, game looks gorgeous. i keep thinking that there are no graphical advances anymore that will impress me, but they keep coming

Mordy, Sunday, 10 June 2012 18:57 (twelve years ago) link

i haven't been particularly impressed by graphics since donkey kong country /jaded

watch dogs looks like it good to be good tho. if the controls arent too footery.

watch_dogs was a tech demo i.e. prerendered

say it ain't so! i mean obviously it's being done super high-res PC, but...

Nhex, Sunday, 10 June 2012 23:45 (twelve years ago) link

Er how does tech demo = pre-rendered? Tech demo generally means "this might not be what the actual game ends up like but look what our engine can do", while pre-rendered footage would mean the opposite of that, "this is how we plan to do the gameplay but the tech isn't working yet so we've faked it".

my favourite part of this thread was when kingfish said

Watch Dogs looks like LA Noire with cell phones. Great, a game where you walk around Chicago and talk to people in art galleries.

brony ver (s1ocki), Monday, 11 June 2012 05:14 (twelve years ago) link

yeah ok i don't know if it was pre-rendered

curious about watch dogs just because the downtown chicago setting looks very realistic and i want to see if i can go to my office and blow it up

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 11 June 2012 17:34 (twelve years ago) link

e3 looked like everyone's in a holding pattern for next gen, ie, zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

only game Im super pumped for is the new firaxis xcom game.

johnathan lee riche$ (mayor jingleberries), Monday, 11 June 2012 17:37 (twelve years ago) link

one year passes...

watch dogs pushed to 2014 :-(

brand nubian wafers (bnw), Tuesday, 15 October 2013 16:39 (ten years ago) link

it's probably better for the game itself that it's not getting rushed out for the holiday season/new console launch release, honestly
