What game are you best at? What game are you worst at?

I don't mean best in the world/worst in the world, just for yourself. If you're the master of like one million, just choose one, please. So, pretend you're in The Wizard, and it's the ending competition...what game would you hope to play, because it would be an almost guaranteed win for you? and which one would make you say the f-word?

Best: Marble Madness (NES). I'm not the best in the world, but I am the third best, according to Twin Galaxies.

Worst: I'd say Halo, but I really have never invested more than 30 minutes, total, in learning how to play. I think I really, really suck at SimCity (all versions). I can build up a city to a decent size, but my citizenry is constantly is revolt, entire districts are abandoned, taxes are always too high or too low, I'm always either losing tons of money or a large part of the city is in exodus, and then at the worst of times, a tornado inevitably arrives and wipes out the only good part of town I had.

I'm terrible at Fight Night.

BEST: Disgaea 2, maybe, or Robot Taisen. I'm pretty good at most SRPGS but the more stat-manipulation you can do the better I am at exploiting the game. Also can tolerate high levels of grinding.

WORST: Friday nite offers proof that I suck at Guitar Hero.

best: super mario world
worst: ya guitar hero / rock band

best: any of the EA fifa titles
worst: super smash brothers, a game that i literally do not understand how to play at all

Best: Super Mario Bros. 1. I know every trick and every version. I have beaten it 4 times in a row without dying. I have spent way too much time on this game.

Worst: I never got very far in Nethack or ADOM, despite many hours trying. (Nethack is a very poorly designed game, and I won't be going back to it. ADOM may have a second chance.)

I am the best at the one where you drink every time your wreck your vehicle
I am terrible at the one where you run around and shoot other people in a maze

Oh shit, I forgot about Super Smash Brothers. Again, I have only played it for maybe 3 hours, total, but something in my brain does not click with the programming.

Really, what have we become. The new millennium is AWFUL.

I don't think there's any game that I feel assured that I'd win at, but I definitely would match my skills to the competition if possible. I'm pretty good at Skate, Madden, Rock Band, and Guitar Hero, but there are plenty of people online who are better in all of those. But I'm the best at them than anyone I've personally met. Any baseball game I'd have a good chance.

Bad: any FPS. Any classic arcade game (enjoy, but not good at). Most fighting games.

good at race games in general, although i get a bit flustered if I'm driving around in 1st place with still a lap to go.

worst i'd say would be text adventures, I could never get my head around some of those crazy puzzles. Also the Wally games on the spectrum, not a clue on combining items - don't think I ever solved one puzzle.

Was best at Counterstrike until I gave it up. But five or six years of fairly intense practice will do that for you. If I go back to it now I'm entirely rotten at it.

Worst at RTSs. Don't think I've ever completed one.

Best: The games that I was probably best at in my life were Tekken 3 and Galaga. These days I can't imagine I'd be much good at either. Feels like I pretty much suck at all the games I like to play, but maybe that's just because you can see exactly how many nerdlingers are better than you. All those guys were out there before, but you didn't have to know about them.

Worst: Any track racing game or giant robot game. And Madden, but that's because I don't understand football.

I'd be hard-pressed to find any game I am "better" at than even my immediate friends. MY specialty comes not in getting really good at games but playing a LOT of different ones enough to feel comfortable talking about them. I don't care to get really fucking good at one thing, that's what "careers" are. I want to make-believe something new every night, thanks.

Hard pressed though I'd probably pickSuper Mario Kart for the SNES because I used to play it like crazy.

best: mega man 2, super mario 3, street fighter II, some other old NES/SNES/Genesis games, ms. pac man, doom. i'm getting pretty good at Rock Band drums too!

worst: marble madness, sports games that are at all realistic, most turn-based strategy games, new first-person shooters with a ton of buttons (lol i am old now), etc.

I once beat Defender of the Crown in under nine minutes

Garrett Martin, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:48 (seventeen years ago)

I bet you I suck harder at FPSs than anyone else on the board.

Conversely, I'm decent at fighting games like Soul Calibur/Virtua Fighter/Street Fighter/Battle Arena Tohshinden/etc. I totally suck at Fight Night, though.

HINT: You're supposed to jump around and hit the other guy.
I don't understand what's so hard about this.

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

best: Qix, pvp healing (be it WoW or TF2)
worst: FPS multiplayer (too old and spazzy), Metal Gear Solid : Snake Eater was like pulling teeth for me.

bnw, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 21:17 (seventeen years ago)

I suck at Super Smash Bros too, there's nothing to "understand" about how some people are worse than others at video games. But man am I glad I heard that hint because I am just gonna crush everyone now.
