The Real Texas is an action adventure game that plays like a mashup of Zelda: Link to the Past and Ultima VI.

Sam, an ordinary Texas rancher, is on holiday in England when he falls into a blue portal and lands in The Strange Texas.

i like this game. music is good. however i'm curious about a lot of the aesthetics--so much of this game is just so deliberately ugly. not in a retro way, in a mspaint way. i guess there's room for this kind of vibe in gaming but when it extends to making the combat kind of annoying i start to question the designer's choices.

huh this is a really strange game. not sure what to think so far, but it's interesting

two musical thoughts to start:
a) every zelda game should start with smooth soft jazz
b) i walked into a town and i'm pretty sure they just stole music from an FF game for this 9_9

def sounds like a pastiche of final fantasy or chrono cross or suikoden or any number of jrpgs but I don't recognize that specific melody from anything.

Got stuck on the section of a fantasy highway. Gave up.

Man this game is kinda fascinating, but also kind of terrible, in that on one hand there's so much mystery and so many things to do and see, but on the other hand 99% of it seems random and you're just shuffling through inventory items and trying to figure out what the hell is going on. It seems to intentionally invoke old games like Castlevania II where there was so few clues about what exactly are supposed to do to move forward.
