WHAT IS IT?

Retro City Rampage is an 8-bit open-world send-up to '80s and '90s video games and pop-culture. Mashing up the old and the new, you’ll be jumping on civilians for coins then stealing their car to outrun the law.

Whether you want to play the missions or just rampage the city and cause some chaos, Retro City Rampage has you covered. It includes both a full Story Mode of open-world adventure as well as an Arcade Mode for quick pick-up-and-play action. If that’s not enough, it also packs an interactive city full of shops, minigames, customizations, collectibles, special guest stars, and more.

Hotline Miami isn't out until the 23rd, but I'm definitely planning to pick it up.

I haven't have much time to play Retro City Rampage so far, but it's weirder than I thought it would be / feels more like an NES game than I thought it would, maybe.

i had the sinking feeling that was gonna be true, despite my urge to support anything with a virt soundtrack. gonna wait for a steam sale.

i played the demo, agree with ste. it does sound really good too.

adam, Friday, 12 October 2012 15:27 (twelve years ago) link

actually I think i should have said "it's not as good as it sounds" because one of my main gripes is with the graphics.

I'm all for pixel stuff, I play emulators every day, but in this game I struggle to figure out what a lot of the sprites are supposed to be.

From the video I was hoping for more APB/Spyhunter and less Commando, but that is only because I was always very bad at Commando

Virt is rad tho
