I mean, I'm tempted to vote vib-ribbon cuz I had a blast playing really weird noize cd generated levels and the standard j-pop soundtrack is really good too... but nah, not really.

something about the combo of katamari's core mechanic plus the aesthetics it's working really pulls in non-gamers in my experience. it's the only game my gf has ever wanted to play fer instance and the same thing has happened with a couple other friends of mine.

yeah i mean the important/influential vote would have to be pac man but of this list the one i can get most personally behind is katamari

We Love Katamari is as good (if not better) than the original, but everything after that one is not worth your time.

oh yeah actually the scond game added a bunch of speed rounds and weird roll up this kind of thing that werent in the first one, and the original dude had bailed by the current console rounds

Katamari. There are loads of great games on this list, but yeah, surprised by Passage being in here (more so than Canabalt, even, which is... fine).

I wouldn't have been surprised by the inclusion of Passage if it was 2009 or even 2010, but just... it's 2012, surely most people now realise that Passage wasn't very good?

I saw Vib Ribbon at the moma in SF about 9 years ago, too, come to think of it.

they're missing a Team ICO game, and Earthbound.

Is there a special license required to display a video game in a public place? I know you'd get in trouble for showing a copy of any film under copyright publicly, but I have no idea what video game terms dictate.
