i'd play this but i'm too invested in LoL now to start all over again. plus my friends all play LoL so i don't have to deal with the raging nerds too much.

start out playing some co-op bot matches and use the mute feature liberally (hit ` to open the scoreboard and click the little speaker icon next to the player's name). did you have to run through the tutorial or did you have beta access? either way, limited hero pool mode might also be worth trying cuz it's mostly n00bs

yeah I might do the tutorial live battles first.. I've been practicing some with bots but not sure what I need to focus on until I play a real game.

do you have any favorite heroes yet? lich and lion are some good starter heroes: supports (so you don't really have to worry about last hitting), free mana (lich's sacrifice, lion's mana drain), and they both have sick ultimates (cast lich's chain frost into grouped up enemies and watch them all melt, lion's finger of death can one-shot kill a support hero). also, as a support, you tend to be squishy (easy to kill) so you'll be forced to learn how to position yourself properly as to not get killed in every team fight
also, the in-game build guides are essential to learning how to play new heroes. this can be accessed by clicking the book icon in the top left toolbar in-game. these will basically tell you which abilities to level-up and which items to buy

playoffs for the international 2014 tournament are wrapping up today and the main event begins friday. with an insane prize pool of 10 million dollars, this is one to watch even if you only have a passing interest in esports
streams and brackets can be found here: http://www.dota2.com/international/watch/ and twitch.tv. this year also features a noob stream which explains game mechanics from a newcomer's perspective

riot should adopt the prize pool strategy of dota2, with the viewers that LoL gets the prize would be outrageous

This was pretty fun to watch going into the best of 5 today which was essentially a 3-1 ass kicking. Production value is high but some of the concepts are so friggin dense it can be hard to follow at a high level if you're not listening to the noob stream
