jordan u forgot one crucial point that i dont have to watch rasheed power-walk from 3 pt line to 3 pt line thus the regular season will be less depressing. i know what to expect from fat shaq and he is really fourth/fifth big man on the depth chart and at a min salary and somehow that's less depressing

for real though i think cs will be energized by the finals run and ready for vengeance. injuries were big last year too

this i don't believe. i think o'neal is desperately concerned with going out on a super high note -- preferably by beating bryant in the finals. he could have signed for more money elsewhere. not that i think he's likely to put boston over-the-top at this stage of his career, but whatevs.

BOSTON — NBA analyst David Aldridge said Wednesday that with the addition of Shaquille O'Neal, the Celtics have vastly improved their chances of leading the league in three-second lane violations for the 2010–2011 season. "Not only does Shaq's presence in the paint give his team more opportunities to turn the ball over, but the Celtics have also added an experienced big man who makes an already old team significantly older," said Aldridge, adding that O'Neal should fill a key role in terms of drastically slowing down the Celtics' offense. "Danny Ainge was looking for someone with size who can't make it down to the other end of the court, and he went out and got the best in the business." Aldridge added that while O'Neal isn't the dominant force he once was, he believes Shaq still has a thing or two to teach teams who think it's a good idea to sign him.

He may not entirely solidify the C's, but he can add a lot of viscosity.

great breakdown from this guy as usual, one thing that's interesting is when dallas tries to switch a lesser defender onto luka the primary defender is always fighting through the screen and getting back into position. i was thinking about how much time that can take, the interesting part is that luka's preference to play super deliberately affords the defender that time. no one will ever call luka explosive but i wonder what it would look like if he went into those actions a little more aggressively.

here's da scoop on derrick white:
--he was barely recruited as a high school player bc he was small for a hooper (6'), but he did end up playing for a division II college near where he grew up (he grew up in suburban denver, went to colorado springs about an hour away). then he had a major growth spurt and grew five inches in height. he would transfer to u of colorado - boulder which is a division I team and has produced a few nba players.
--his dad richard grew up in boston as a lad, so derrick was raised as a red sox fan.

fun fact: i used to have a hoops-only twitter burner and derrick white's dad used to follow me, hes a poster to the core
