I played 3 on 3 today w/ my brothers, my brother in law, and my nephew, it was dope, so so so much fun. I hadn't played in years so I am super sore right now but overall I was very satisfied with how I played. my jumpshot could've been way better but I was a monster on defense imho

fwiw it def missed some courts but pretty amazing work overall, also great to see how many courts have high quality backboards/rims/nets now after years of dealing with the evil handmade parks departments set ups

Spottie, Wednesday, 22 July 2015 17:38 (nine years ago)

the courts r not numbered?

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 July 2015 17:40 (nine years ago)

yeah! the courts and hoops themselves are pretty shitty but it's always packed, which can be a good or bad thing

usic ally (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 22 July 2015 17:41 (nine years ago)

lagoon if you do "show all" it ranks them in order of overall score. then if you click on the name of the court it will tell you what the rank is. seth low park in bensonhurst is #32

usic ally (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 22 July 2015 17:41 (nine years ago)

ah thx, they shdve listed the rank in the table, what am i supposed to do count over here what the heck

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 July 2015 17:44 (nine years ago)

I pulled a dellavadova move on a loose ball tonight. No one hurt but I felt so dirty afterwards. No idea where that came from

Heez, Thursday, 23 July 2015 01:10 (nine years ago)

Should probably seek counseling pal.

Spottie, Thursday, 23 July 2015 02:10 (nine years ago)

anyway i got the ball but lost a little something in the process.

a vast majority of pickup hoops games are scored using 1s and 2s.

whaaaat not where im from bro

lag∞n, Thursday, 3 September 2015 15:47 (nine years ago)

I often think about how pickup 1s/2s scoring overweights the three, but how that may be counterbalanced by the fact that you don't see a lot of true knockdown 3 shooters in pickup games.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Thursday, 3 September 2015 15:59 (nine years ago)

too many ppl shooting 25-footers as it is, no need to encourage them

mookieproof, Thursday, 3 September 2015 16:22 (nine years ago)

yeah man we stopped with the ones and twos a couple years back totally changed the game. little weird getting used to keeping score tho

Spottie, Thursday, 3 September 2015 16:59 (nine years ago)

if the choices are 1s/2s or all 1s, always choose 1s and 2s. game gets too physical otherwise

usic ally (k3vin k.), Thursday, 3 September 2015 17:15 (nine years ago)

yeah pack the paint and bang

usic ally (k3vin k.), Thursday, 3 September 2015 17:34 (nine years ago)

btw this is how pickup is supposed to be played imo

- 1s and 2s to 15, win by 2, unless a lot of people are waiting in which case all 1s to 11, straight up
- winners outs in half court
- line up at the foul line to pick teams, alternate
- do or die shot from 3 for ball. if full court, the team who doesn't get ball first gets to choose which way they want to go
- shoot a 3 to resolve disputes
- call your own fouls. if it goes in anyway, it counts. "and-1" means nothing, it's just a way to taunt
- no fucking zone

usic ally (k3vin k.), Thursday, 3 September 2015 17:38 (nine years ago)

everything is right but we play 2s and 3s to 21 now. Its great.

Spottie, Thursday, 3 September 2015 18:03 (nine years ago)

zone d sounds kinda lame for a pickup game, but why outlaw it?

rip van wanko, Thursday, 3 September 2015 18:33 (nine years ago)

cos weak

Spottie, Thursday, 3 September 2015 18:51 (nine years ago)

Don't find this to be true. Most guys I play with, 3's is their main bball skill and they are lethal from there. I'm always trying to score games 2/3's instead of 1/2s (even moreso before I improved my 3 pt shooting). I do not understand where the 1/2s thing came from and why it overtook 2/3s as the standard.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 3 September 2015 20:06 (nine years ago)

was trying to explain to one guy how 1/2s overweights the long distance shot, but he couldn't grasp it. "but 2 is one more than 1, just like 3 is one more than 2...". i'm sure there's a lot of other guys out there who don't get it, either.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 3 September 2015 20:08 (nine years ago)

haha

Spottie, Thursday, 3 September 2015 20:21 (nine years ago)

so much frustration from working hard to get 6 high percentage buckets...and then the 5 ft 2 sharpshooter drains 3 in a row from behind the arc in like 30 seconds and it's a tie game.
