playing basketball

been playing occasionally at the gym my strategy is to lurk on situations that might result in halfcourt, played 3s last night p fun had a series of embarrassing layup misses before hitting three straight Js to win the game, the only thing is i always play after ive worked out so im totally beat, either that or im just not in basketball shape since i dont play basketball that much, prob some combination of the two, its great from an exercise perspective to have to have a game to motivate you to keep going if youre already tired tho

its so hard tp play after lifting

yeah i play first as a warmup usually. have not felt like playing with other ppl yet--my shot is decent but my handle is just a disaster.

man it's been like 10 years but i kinda want to do this again, def not in shape for it atm though. maybe by the summer~~?

it is one of the best things to do and it is a crazy workout

my shot is terrible though

i've been killing it recently with my dirk fade away. sucks though bc we play at a middle school gym and they started doubling down on me from the perimeter. there's no way to really make them pay since the court is so much smaller.

there were a bunch of adults laughing whooping and having a grand time playing knockout at the gym the other day it was weird

yeah it's m/l a game for 12 year olds

'make it-take it' is when you are playing half-court three-on-three or something; team that scores gets the ball back

if ppl are just shooting around, getting the ball back is 'change'. only made jumpers tho; no change for layups

lol i read that article too but didn't post it because "change" being the most common made me so angry!! how does that even make sense, the person shooting isn't changing! you pass it back to the same person! it's courtesy btw -- northeast names for things are always better obv

in terms of the etiquette of how it actually works, mookie otm. if you make a jumper you get it back (courtesy). if you miss a jumper, whoever gets the rebound passes you the ball for a layup, and that guy then gets to shoot jumpers

so let's say we were shooting around and some dummy grabs my made shot and starts dribbling it himself or whatever. what do you say? "oh it's...change....so kevin gets the ball back" ????? no, everyone looks at him, points to me, and says "courtesy"

yeah we called it courtesy

change is what you say to pump yourself up. if someone grabs the ball and is dumb i just say give me the ball I'm made it.

Also have used "respect" on occasion. but honestly everyone i play with knows all this stuff so its been a long time since I've had to use any of this

yeah I've played a lot in places where its winners after 3 to 11

maybe the point is if one team is clearly better just let them end it quickly

it's really unnecessary everyone remembers the teams after like one play

i bought cheap pennies for the guys i play with on tuesdays everyone loves them. take turns taking them home to wash and bring back the next week.

man ive never heard any of this language, never played skins or scored by 1s & 2s. its just king of the court, scorer gets ball and first to 21

i blocked the hell out of this guy cause he kept doing the same turn around j and i jumped on it which was p sweet cause im short and dont get many blocks and then he was like stop pushing me in the back bro and maybe i pushed him a tiny bit idk also he got mad when i pointed out he didnt clear the ball
