i mean he is a role player. he's a v good role player and guys like that can get paid, but he's gonna get extra paid bc of the champ warriors-sheen, 3 pt %, youth, UNC pedigree, cool movie star first name, handsome, helps bring your groceries in, tips well, good breath smell, won't scratch your pans, speaks 4 languages, ate at denny's every day for 3 years, etc

No way to predict how offseason will unfold for #Celtics, but no understating significance of C's officially being on map for NBA stars.

kd giving the celtics a meeting is def kinda huge for a team thats never in their history even landed a 2nd tier free agent

that line of thinking is great until you come in second for every free agent and end up with a roster that looks like the mavs

but KD even granting them the time def cements their place in the current ecosystem in some regard

gotta be in the game before u cn win man B-)

even something like KDs simple praiseworthy comments about the celtics earlier this year can go a long way.

feel like it also just represents the reality of the situation where the celtics r considered a good org

they're good enough, smart enough, and doggone it - players like them

dont get this ploy, spurs aint gonna shell out big bucks for him. all the signals from pop and rc are that they want to go young. theyre calling in a bunch of their draft and stash players (livio jean charles from '13, nikola mulitinov from '15, and check out davis bertans aka the new red rocket, a throw-in 6'10" SF from the kawhi-george hill trade). i think a bunch of those guys will play in austin most of the year as well as their first rounder from this year.

i think durant is the only guy theyre willing to throw max money at. conley's going to stay in memphis, it looks like, and i think most of the max money dudes will, too. if wade wants to take a vet's min contract to play backup to danny green, thats a possibility.

im exaggerating bc obv he would start over danny green, but spurs need outside shooting, too. they missed having guys like belinelli. that 2014 champs team had 6 players who shot over 40% from 3. this year the only players shooting 3s accurately at a high frequency were ginobili, mills, and kawhi. mills' shot disappeared in the playoffs. they need danny green to shoot better than 33% this year, but that would be like a record year for wade from 3.

all of this is to say that i think the spurs are going to keep it p low key if and when they strike out on durant. i think they want to keep some flexibility for next year's big FA class and cap jump. pau seems like a good fit to either start C if duncan retires or play first big off the bench if duncan stays (either way, he's getting starter minutes).
