marcos, Monday, 4 July 2016 23:22 (nine years ago)

wanting a 73 win team to get another all star is a more interesting opinion ur right

marcos, Monday, 4 July 2016 23:24 (nine years ago)

Feel like they were sufficiently humbled a couple weeks back

moistest hoist (Spottie), Monday, 4 July 2016 23:43 (nine years ago)

about half of the reason i'm happy this happened is because i know it'll offend so many delicate first-take-informed sensibilities of casual fans

can you imagine how absolutely furious about this wilbon will be

Clay, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:12 (nine years ago)

stephen A has already called it the "weakest move my a superstar ever"

k3vin k., Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:13 (nine years ago)

so many macho opinions from macho men!

k3vin k., Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:13 (nine years ago)

GSW getting zaza for 3m is criminal

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:14 (nine years ago)

They maybe got slightly better at C

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:15 (nine years ago)

Warriors could beat this year's Olympic team (tho Klay would have a pretty busy day guarding himself)

Neanderthal, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:16 (nine years ago)

zaza is 32 and will probably regress

k3vin k., Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:20 (nine years ago)

He's also v bad at defense and Rim protection which is really all they need from a center

moistest hoist (Spottie), Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:22 (nine years ago)

Otoh both of his arms work

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:25 (nine years ago)

He'll be fine and that's a great price obv

moistest hoist (Spottie), Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:26 (nine years ago)

Bogut will be 32 in two months and had a significant injury yet again

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:27 (nine years ago)

Andrew Bogut more like Andrew Bigot amirite.

Nicholas Nickelback (Leee), Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:29 (nine years ago)

I thought we were in a new era where big men didn't matter what happened to that

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 00:29 (nine years ago)

someone tried to beat smallball by getting every rebound and it worked iirc

ciderpress, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 01:32 (nine years ago)

there is a flight tracker of a plane from miami to cleveland that's bouncing around my twitter

just sayin

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Tuesday, 5 July 2016 01:37 (nine years ago)

I doubt Wade gives them much more than they got from JRpert in the playoffs but I guess he could have a renaissance

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 01:59 (nine years ago)

he averaged 21, 5.5, 4.3 on 47% from the floor in the playoffs last year, nothing to shake your head at

Clay, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:02 (nine years ago)

What the fuck

Free agent guard Seth Curry is finalizing a two-year, $6M deal with the Dallas Mavericks, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:04 (nine years ago)

he also made like half of his career 3s in those last couple games vs hornets

ciderpress, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:05 (nine years ago)

Harrison Barnes getting the max and Curry getting 3m is not a rational marketplace

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:07 (nine years ago)

is this the start of some movie where the 2 brothers switch places and no one notices

ciderpress, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:08 (nine years ago)

I read that as Stephen Curry the first time and was really confused

Neanderthal, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:10 (nine years ago)

lol that mavs squad will still win like 48 games most likely

well big men matter during the regular season because playing small exclusively would be too physically taxing. but the cavs won game 7 w/o playing a traditional center which makes 2 straight champions that severely deemphasized the position.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:27 (nine years ago)

you need big men to bang during the regular season & during the playoffs ideally you have big men to be flexible depending on the matchup or series but the best teams are playing small. okc's run in the playoffs could maybe be a counterpoint to that but even they were at their absolute best w/ kd at the 4.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:29 (nine years ago)

& even teams w/ dominant centers (pistons, 2016 heat, 2015 rockets) wanna play "small" w/ a combo of guards & wings or in the case of the rockets want to play 4 out w/ a traditional stretch 4

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:31 (nine years ago)

what could have been

the thunder should trade steven adams for james harden

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:36 (nine years ago)

can someone with good hoops acumen explain why this has happened? is it (a) lots more dudes are better at shooting 3s (b) illegality of handsy defense, (c) something else?

6 god none the richer (m bison), Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:36 (nine years ago)

i'm interested mostly in how this affects @7A_NBA

i think it's that the league realized the value of the 3 pointer and so guys who can't shoot are gradually being filtered out of rotations and/or the nba. it seems like playing thru the post is generally matchup dependent now. also a lot of teams are valuing centers who can guard out to and along the perimeter, and that requires a level of athleticism that prob negatively correlates with post moves.

also consequently teams fully realize the value of spacing that comes from having good shotoers.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:48 (nine years ago)

the flip side is that guys like demarcus cousins are especially unguardable but teams realize it takes an especially skilled or overwhelming post player to emphasize that part of an offense over the spacey/shooty style

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 5 July 2016 02:50 (nine years ago)

also zone defences make it really difficult to post up unmolested

micah, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 03:33 (nine years ago)

gonna be kind of awkward on team USA with durant/barnes/dray/klay all there huh

k3vin k., Tuesday, 5 July 2016 04:19 (nine years ago)

You know I bet Barnes is p happy.

moistest hoist (Spottie), Tuesday, 5 July 2016 04:47 (nine years ago)

yeah barnes seems like one of those guys who lacks an edge and will be happy getting paid on a bad team

micah, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 04:51 (nine years ago)

Whiteside is the only of those three who could credibly be called dominant imo

The Warriors played traditional centers 80% of the time.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 05:19 (nine years ago)

kinda weird that KD is younger than Steph. feels like he's been in the league so much longer.

Just had a thought that dray klay kd curry and jerry west should all head over to Larry Sanders' house and have a little chat

moistest hoist (Spottie), Tuesday, 5 July 2016 06:36 (nine years ago)

so warriors/thunder has to be xmas day feature game right, assuming they don't trade Russ in a panic

Clay, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 07:16 (nine years ago)

If it's true that horford would have signed with the thunder that would be hard to swallow for OKC

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 09:01 (nine years ago)
