yeah barnes seems like one of those guys who lacks an edge and will be happy getting paid on a bad team

& even teams w/ dominant centers (pistons, 2016 heat, 2015 rockets) wanna play "small" w/ a combo of guards & wings or in the case of the rockets want to play 4 out w/ a traditional stretch 4

Whiteside is the only of those three who could credibly be called dominant imo

well big men matter during the regular season because playing small exclusively would be too physically taxing. but the cavs won game 7 w/o playing a traditional center which makes 2 straight champions that severely deemphasized the position.

The Warriors played traditional centers 80% of the time.

kinda weird that KD is younger than Steph. feels like he's been in the league so much longer.

Just had a thought that dray klay kd curry and jerry west should all head over to Larry Sanders' house and have a little chat

so warriors/thunder has to be xmas day feature game right, assuming they don't trade Russ in a panic

i guess the problem is every former contract is under-market now so no team that's feinging contention this year can afford to trade anyone

Craziest thing about this to me is that in Dallas mahinmi looked like the kind of utterly fungible big man who would end up with one more little contract probably as a practice body for a contender with no money then vanish into Europe or w/e and now he's like an ideal b-level center

been thinking about this. if okc is certain he's gone, they'll certainly trade him, but they probably won't trade him to a team he doesn't want to play for/extend long term. spurs dont have a lot of tradeable assets, but of all the teams out there that could put russ in a championship role, SA is probably about it for the foreseeable future. lotta shit can change though so who knows.

yeah theres not really a fit for him this year other than the spurs but they don't really have enough to send back afaict

have to wait til free agency :)

thats why im hoping russ either stays in okc for the season or gets traded somewhere he doesnt want to be long term as a rental. tbh tho russ might not give a shit about a ring...i think he'd be an ok fit on the spurs but he'd have to conform to the spurs way. also he would need to stop doing so many PEDs.

russ is hardly a typical spurs acquisition. he accomplishes a lot, but you have to accept his out-of-control tendencies along with his productive ones. pops would have apoplexy some nights.

i don't really want to see russ traded this year im more curious to see the russ/oladipo/adams thunder in action one time, they're probably still a solid team

russ on the spurs would be interesting but it seems like they lose more and more shooting every year

i dont think the spurs are a good fit for russ other than being the best team without a star PG

thunder are probably mid-40s win team without KD

lma n kawhi r 2 of the better shooters + green used to be able to shoot maybe cld again, russ wld be replacing tony

LMA doesn't really shoot 3s tho, and kawhi's shooting sort of came out of nowhere iirc i bet he regresses a bit

we saw what the Thunder were like w out durant and they couldnt get into the playoffs. mid 40s is about right yeah

in recent seasons, when kd was on the bench with an injury, russ has gone ballistic, putting up some astounding hero-ball numbers. this has resulted in some great wins, but there is no way he keeps it up for an entre season without exploding.

crazy that his stats m/l stayed the same even w KD back.

they won 45 in the kd injury year which a) was before steven adams broke out and b) would have been good for the 5 seed last year so who knows

lma, even as a multiple all-star, was pretty deferential when he first arrived in SA. kd might feel he needs to fit in on the dubs, more than the dubs need to fit themselves around him.
