giannis bad jumper
Good example of lack of rhythm with the jump shot. It looks like his body has to wait to jump til the ball finally comes up to his hands. Pretty severe knee valgus also disrupts rhythm, almost a 2 motion jump with legs @BBiomechanics pic.twitter.com/CKPH8hRtRu— BBALLBREAKDOWN (@bballbreakdown) March 19, 2018

sometimes when a guy is out for that long they just never really catch back up, possibly compounded by the fact that he hasnt really had the time to adjust to a new team
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 March 2018 01:48 (six years ago) link
the heat don't have anyone as good as jokic but the two teams are kind of the analogs of each other... both are deep with pretty good players and have pretty flexible lineups. it's fun to watch because the style of play pretty much requires every player to contribute on both ends. it also means you must have not just athletes but skilled athletes, and tho i understand the complaints about the small ball/3 pt revolution that aspect of it has been a boon to the league.

the heat play so hard def out perform their talent, theyre really well coached
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 March 2018 02:16 (six years ago) link
guess they focus a lot on conditioning too which helps with the playing hard
yeah and their offense has so much motion, every player is always running around doing something
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 March 2018 02:22 (six years ago) link
this game went into double OT at 131-131. the heat's announcer called it "a breathtaking NBA adventure"

imo the jazz and blazers runs are cool but neither is a serious contender
― k3vin k., Tuesday, 20 March 2018 16:08 (six years ago) link
the jazz can't score enough
portland will make the warriors actually try in the second round tho and if they're still getting healthy and/or just kinda messing around i could see portland being up 2-1 with a game 4 at home
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 March 2018 16:23 (six years ago) link
assuming they get the 3 seed of course
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 March 2018 16:24 (six years ago) link
neither is a serious contender
Having a hot streak is not the same as being a Conference Finals contender, but when you can win a dozen or more in a row after the All Star break, you're def no flash in the pan like Orlando was last Nov.
― A is for (Aimless), Tuesday, 20 March 2018 16:29 (six years ago) link
its funny both the celtics and the jazz are in serious what if situations with gordon hayward

this is good:https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-mid-range-jumper-is-the-nbas-worst-shot-except-for-the-golden-state-warriors-1521557144Kerr and the management team emphasizing it (and signing good midrange shooters) knowing teams would be pushing them off the 3p line during the playoffs is a smart counter.
Klay Thompson is shooting 49% from the mid-range. Kevin Durant is shooting 50%. David West is shooting 50.8%. Curry is shooting a typically absurd 59.3%. That would be the single most efficient season from the mid-range since the NBA began tracking shot locations in 1996.
these two teams better be healthy and make it to the conf finals cos this matchup is gonna be good
Even after they added Chris Paul, who provides the offensive variety required when defenses make their inevitable playoff adjustments, the Rockets still rank last in the league in mid-range shots.

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that Taurean Prince is an Aries
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 20 March 2018 18:54 (six years ago) link
Maybe the Rockets rank last in mid-range efficiency because they are coached to regard a mid-range shot as an absolute last resort in the final second of the shot clock, when all else has failed.
― A is for (Aimless), Tuesday, 20 March 2018 19:08 (six years ago) link
last in mid-range shots, not mid-range efficiency
midrange shots are fine from a variety standpoint but most of the dudes listed there get buckets from all over the court
