Imagine if the Hornets could play this well against teams not angling for lottery position. They might be playing for something. But nope, the pressure of possibly mattering was too much for them.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:06 (six years ago) link

fultz ended up having a dece game all things considered

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:12 (six years ago) link

the hornets had a flukey bad record in close games and also they're not the most talented team out there. i love kemba a lot but they legit got jumped by the bucks, sixers, pacers, etc. all of whom have better talent either in one guy or a few guys.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:16 (six years ago) link

Charlotte also has a bad front office and coach. Kemba’s good and it’s a shame to see him wasted there.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:18 (six years ago) link

in a classic late season wtf line trey burke had 42-12 in that game

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:22 (six years ago) link

front office def bad. clifford feels like an m.o.r. coach to me.

wolves with a horrific loss to the grizz.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:25 (six years ago) link

wouldnt mind seeing kemba on the bucks actually

Clay, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:26 (six years ago) link

i'm going to say a very knee-jerk thing here which is that the bucks don't deserve kemba

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:26 (six years ago) link

am i just seeing things or does fultz's jumper still look like it wants to be wonky so bad. like, he has it just barely smoothed out

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:27 (six years ago) link

if his jumper in this game was anything like the recent "improving" practice videos you are otm

I want to see Kemba on the Spurs

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:29 (six years ago) link

kemba will (probably) not go to the spurs

NBA YoungBoy named Rocky Raccoon (m bison), Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:31 (six years ago) link

kemba to the cavs obv

NBA YoungBoy named Rocky Raccoon (m bison), Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:31 (six years ago) link

i did think fultz looked impressive physically tho. i'm not sure how great he is as a leaper and he's prob too thin but he has really long arms for a guard. we'll see how he, embiid & simmons all fit on offense but at least on defense that's a lot of wingspan.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:32 (six years ago) link

kemba on the spurs would be amazing. there's some tony parker to his game.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:33 (six years ago) link

That’s why I want to see it.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:34 (six years ago) link

kemba, malik monk, 2018 first round pick, 2019 pick swap, 2020 first round pick to the spurs for kawhi

not saying it wouldnt be dope, just hard 2 imagine. it would mean moving dejounte to the 2 or to the bench.

xp

that trade is a fuckin insult j0rdy

NBA YoungBoy named Rocky Raccoon (m bison), Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:36 (six years ago) link

btw i am amending my comments the hornets problem is very likely ownership not front office

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:37 (six years ago) link

the only trade that makes sense if it ever came down to it is kawhi for anthony davis straight up

NBA YoungBoy named Rocky Raccoon (m bison), Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:37 (six years ago) link

charlotte's first round picks since kemba:

MKG, 2nd overall
cody zeller, 4th overall
noah vonleh, 9th overall
frank kaminsky, 9th overall (turned down 8 first round picks from danny ainge)
malik monk, 11th overall

Charlotte’s management is sooooo bad

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:39 (six years ago) link

mkg was such a disaster of a pick in that draft

Clay, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:39 (six years ago) link

forgot that MKG was a 2nd pick, man

NBA YoungBoy named Rocky Raccoon (m bison), Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:40 (six years ago) link

I say the Hornets management sucks because I used to see some of their low-level grunts moaning about their bosses at local bars. I hope they escape like I did.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:41 (six years ago) link

ugh and mkg's making 13m/year through 2020 man charlotte what's up

Clay, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:42 (six years ago) link

the thing is if you look at some of those drafts, the hornets kinda just got unlucky. nobody in that zeller draft was good, and the good players picked right after after vonleh (saric, zach lavine, nurkic) are not exactly franchise cornerstones.

the MKG pick is an underrated franchise killer tho. passed on brad beal, lillard and drummond. the kaminsky one also a borderline franchise killer. and i guess picking malik monk over donovan mitchell has a chance to look really, really bad. so i guess they did fuck up.

kemba and essentially 4 first round picks for kawhi is not *insane*

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:43 (six years ago) link

the sticking point for me is that malik monk might be bad

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:43 (six years ago) link

kawhi is a hoops angel tho

NBA YoungBoy named Rocky Raccoon (m bison), Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:44 (six years ago) link

If they made that trade we could get the magical Kawhight pairing

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:45 (six years ago) link

i don't think rich cho suddenly got horrible at his job--it has to be really hard to run a team without a clear direction from ownership to aggressively chase titles. mj almost certainly intervened in the kaminsky pick and it seems like if anything their goal is to be in the respectable middle but they've missed that mark a couple times for various reasons.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:47 (six years ago) link

thats...thats not magical. youre not even a real magician!!!!

xp

NBA YoungBoy named Rocky Raccoon (m bison), Tuesday, 27 March 2018 02:48 (six years ago) link

i think to be in the respectable middle you need one all star (last year's okc, indiana now, bucks, kawhi-less spurs, boogie-less pels) and they have zero

vonleh was chalk at that point in the draft--i didn't like him but plenty of informed people did. jury's out on monk, he has plenty of time to improve.

the mkg pick feels like something that might not happen in the draft today--last remnants of an old way of doing things or something like that.

How does anyone lose to the grizzlies at this point they aren’t even trying to win they’re rolling out like 7 g leaguers every night

give the hornets brad stevens and kemba would waltz to an all-star. the talent is there, but the hornets aren't going to maximize it.
