ya, idk why they just let baynes walk like that
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 25 June 2019 19:29 (six years ago)
sounds like he asked for it, not that they needed to grant his wish.
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 25 June 2019 19:41 (six years ago)
It was sort of a favor. He opted in because it looked like they were bringing back/improving the team to contend. When Ainge and co had to switch to retooling he asked for a trade. It sounds like he would have opted out if he knew about Kyrie and Al going elsewhere.

I’m in on Kemba to the Celtics: https://t.co/neY0JIP1Me— Andrew Sharp (@andrewsharp) June 26, 2019

havent read that not sure if any sportswriter have yet figured out my plan to get adams and kemba
which one are you trading Hayward for?
― EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 26 June 2019 22:02 (six years ago)
kemba

what if we just keep posting links and no one reads, sad
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 26 June 2019 22:25 (six years ago)
i agree with the underlying axiom of that which is that the celtics should not increase the number of ball dominant players they have. i'm down with taking kemba in if someone else is being sent out
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 26 June 2019 22:44 (six years ago)
tjarks claims that brown and tatum "don't need a point guard and can create their own shots" so he kinda lost me there
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 26 June 2019 22:51 (six years ago)
not convinced that brown and tatum can be part of the same good offense at this point, they're both cloggers
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 26 June 2019 23:03 (six years ago)
they just need to stop cloggin
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 26 June 2019 23:04 (six years ago)
one of them really needs to make a leap next year on offense if its gonna work

they can both shoot it, all the more reason to get a pg who will get them shots!
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 26 June 2019 23:27 (six years ago)
also and i'm sorry, "not a playoff player" doesn't even begin to describe vucavic. marc gasol absolutely destroyed him in the first round.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 26 June 2019 23:28 (six years ago)
vooch was so bad i would avoid dude at all costs

The Boston Celtics have emerged as the frontrunner to sign Charlotte All-Star guard Kemba Walker once free agency opens Sunday at 6 PM ET, league sources tell ESPN.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 27, 2019

danny “lagoon” ainge
― hollow your fart (m bison), Thursday, 27 June 2019 13:00 (six years ago)
is the implication that they're going to just sign him outright rather than do a sign-and-trade? i feel like that would eat up most if not all of their space and then they'd be left with, what, Gordon Hayward guarding their back line of defense?
― Evans on Hammond (evol j), Thursday, 27 June 2019 13:44 (six years ago)
yeah idk have to assume the celtics are aware they dont have any centers but not sure what their plan is
― lag∞n, Thursday, 27 June 2019 14:08 (six years ago)
the base year compensation rules make it next to impossible to do a sign and trade with kemba.
sign and trades have become really hard to do. i'd bet against seeing a single one this offseason tbh.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 27 June 2019 14:15 (six years ago)
getting kemba would be a pretty impressive pivot for the celtics given that he's the best free agent they reasonably have a shot at. i think you can go back and forth on how good he *actually* is but he's the type of guy that has thrived on brad stevens teams, he won't need to do as much as he did in charlotte, he's going to be a huge hit with the city, etc. etc.
they still have $5m bucks or so to get a center which should be plenty.

why would the pacers trade turner
― micah, Thursday, 27 June 2019 15:08 (six years ago)
with the other FA renouncements they would be making if kemba were to formally commit, i think (though i'm not 100 percent on the math) they might well have space for someone above the bargain basement level, like a dewayne dedmon type
― horford chants out between two worlds, "kyrie walk with me" (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 27 June 2019 15:09 (six years ago)
xp i really dont think they would, also cutting bait on jaylen seems wicked unwise
i don't think they would (or should) but if they feel they can't keep both turner and sabonis then they could make sabonis the starting 5, not pay bogdanovic who is older and replace him with brown, pay thad young for defense, and set up the team that way. it's a path that makes some sense but i think they will try to play sabonis and turner together until they realize it doesn't work.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 27 June 2019 15:19 (six years ago)
yeah it solves positional issues for them and they get a really good young player

its not cutting bait, its a trade for value
― lag∞n, Thursday, 27 June 2019 15:38 (six years ago)
pacers also drafted a center
― lag∞n, Thursday, 27 June 2019 15:57 (six years ago)
still feel like with kemba they risk having too much material and not enough glue again unless they make another big move
― ciderpress, Thursday, 27 June 2019 15:58 (six years ago)
xp oh yeah the big dude who is certainly going to intentionally injure somebody in a few years

boston has kemba fever
Hi everyone.I was walking in Boston Common today and ran into this 4 month old lab.His name is Kemba. You guessed it.He was named after Kemba Walker because his owners went to UConn. If this ain't a sign, I don't know what is.Please RT for good luck. pic.twitter.com/euyI8u5v8k— Only In Boston (@OnlyInBOS) June 27, 2019
― lag∞n, Thursday, 27 June 2019 16:03 (six years ago)
aw hi kemba!
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 27 June 2019 16:41 (six years ago)
Kemba feels kind of like an effort to recapture those feel-good Isaiah days, though with a presumably better and more durable player. Splitting the difference between Isaiah and Kyrie, kinda
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 27 June 2019 16:56 (six years ago)
yes this is why i support the move, maybe the celtics are better as a feisty second round team lol
― lag∞n, Thursday, 27 June 2019 16:58 (six years ago)
tho they get a bunch of young guys who can play and who knows what develops
yep. Very intrigued by the Brown for Turner idea. Seems like Turner almost is what he is at this point, while Brown still growing into something, but what Turner is is pretty good and we need it. Just listened to Windy on Lowe's podcast yesterday though and both see Pacers as committed to making Sabonis/Turner work, for reasons unknown.
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 27 June 2019 17:09 (six years ago)
i think turner can get to another level if they let him hoist from 3
