But like I told you guys the other day, he’s been limited to two scrimmages. Both scrimmages included some random people we just found on the street with all due respect to Klay Thompson’s pals. "

Whenever I mention Curry to my wife I identify him as the NBA's most "magical" player. And this from a Blazer fan who has watched the amazing fabulous career of Dame Lillard. It's a bit like watching the Clyde Drexler years, when Jordan was just enough better to throw shade on Drexler, who otherwise was easily an all time Top 20 player.

― DJI, Sunday, 27 December 2020 16:38 (three years ago) link
ok, i know i am maybe going to sound a bit hyperbolic when i say this, but: that clip of Steph hitting 105 threes in a row ... i'm trying to decide if that is the most amazing video footage of a human accomplishment i have ever seen? i'm not talking sports, i'm talking anything. what compares? this is a serious question.
― alpine static, Monday, 28 December 2020 09:14 (three years ago) link
Obligatory "We talkin bout practice"... but yes, it is incredibly awesome to watch the literal best humanity has ever produced at a specific activity, in the zone, doing their thing better than anyone ever has like that. Wish Kerr would quit the foolish motion "offense" he's trying to run for scrubs like Andrew Wiggins and Oubre, and for once unleash Curry in full offensive engine ball hog mode for a whole season like D'Antoni has been doing with Harden for the past couple of years.

it’s incredible, and tom tango did some kind of nerd analysis on twitter where he suggested his true 3pt rate was 92% or something. I don’t think I’ve mentioned this on ILH but a friend of mine who trained in residency with me for a bit is the world record holder for 3 pointers made in 24 hours, and he hit 75% over the course of the day, and told me that before fatigue really set in over the last few hours he was hitting >90%
― k3vin k., Monday, 28 December 2020 14:27 (three years ago) link

― k3vin k., Monday, 28 December 2020 14:29 (three years ago) link
as far as just hitting practice threes there are prob a bunch of people who can do what steph did in that video, apparently the celtics old equipment manager for years would beat players regularly in 3pt competitions, in fact having a lanky nba body makes shooting harder

when i went to basketball camp at age 10 or so they had a guy come talk to us and he was one of these flawless open gym shooter types, took maybe 150-200 shots over the course of an hour and you could count the misses on one hand.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 28 December 2020 16:19 (three years ago) link
ok, you all think this is more achievable than i do/did, which is totally fine. maybe i'm overestimating it slightly. like, if my 8-year-old came to me a week ago and asked me one of his kid-type questions - i.e. could anyone ever hit 100 NBA three-pointers in a row? - i would've told him of course anything is possible, and maybe someday someone will do that, but ... well, no, not really. even wide open practice threes, i guess i would've thought 90ish % is near the top of what's humanly possible. that's a pretty long shot!
i guess this is why Steph is ... good. :)
