lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 March 2020 01:42 (four years ago) link

three weeks pass...

Marcus Smart, who tested positive for coronavirus, has volunteered to donate his blood plasma for research.

Amazing.

— Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) April 1, 2020

if marcus smarts blood becomes the basis for the corona vaccine thats final proof that ive been in a coma for a while

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 April 2020 02:31 (four years ago) link

further proof that he's the best defensive player in the nba.

(Aimless mentally compares Smart to Rudy Gobert)

you have a point

damn that around the back dribble was smooth and tight.

Spottie, Wednesday, 8 April 2020 21:22 (four years ago) link

game 4 and game 6 of the 2008 finals on ESPN tonight, truly anything is possible

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 22 April 2020 17:59 (four years ago) link

ray allen had so many big rebounds in game 4! played great defense too. i think his all-around game is somewhat forgotten--he had no weaknesses to speak of.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 April 2020 01:12 (four years ago) link

this is the sasha vujacic game! i forgot.

yeah ppl think he was just a shooter he averaged 26 one year and 25 the year before with 4 and 4 he was a star

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 April 2020 02:32 (four years ago) link

game 6 now. 58-35 at halftime. just an absolute shitkicking at this point. the 2008 celtics were really good!

call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 April 2020 02:36 (four years ago) link

that team wins multiple rings in the vast majority of simulations run one has to think

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 April 2020 02:39 (four years ago) link

it's interesting if you look at it....pierce/garnett/ray were all between 30 and 32 in '08 so right at the point when you expect some declines to start. they also had a hard time finding bench guys after this season. in particular they never found another posey.

but yeah, if you take '08-'09 and '09-'10 together and think about the odds, in most scenarios they should have gotten another one.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 April 2020 02:46 (four years ago) link

even the next season after too they started out rolling then garnett got injured

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 April 2020 02:49 (four years ago) link

of course i remembered that the '08 celtics had to go to 7 games in the first two playoff rounds because i was watching those games and was immensely frustrated. i had forgotten that the lakers had basically rolled in 4, 6, and 5 games through their series. interesting now because this lakers team has some holes! outside of kobe, pau, odom, and derek fisher (really gritting my teeth on that last one) this is not a great team at all.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 April 2020 02:54 (four years ago) link

Count yourself lucky. The 1977 Trail Blazers should have had a repeat title at the absolute minimum. Probably a three-peat. Shit happened. They've never had a second title.

perkins going down in game 6 in 2010 was the beginning of the end of everything.

his handle had gotten so much better this season. that iso around 3:00 where he puts thybulle in the mix and easily gets to his spot.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 May 2020 00:09 (four years ago) link

hes improved so much since coming into the league its nuts, he had a bunch of stuff that needed serious upgrade and hes pretty much checked every box

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2020 00:28 (four years ago) link

like his jumper was authentically bad

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2020 00:30 (four years ago) link

yup. he's unrecognizable from his rookie year.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 May 2020 00:35 (four years ago) link

bodes well for the future as a guy who continues to work on his game

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 May 2020 01:05 (four years ago) link

After years of looking for this particular game, I almost gave up hope I will ever find the moment when Tommy Heinsohn compared Greg Stiemsma to Bill Russell.

BUT HERE IT IS, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE IT AIRED:https://t.co/wjt3ID9M8w

An important takeaway from Trey Davis' music video: Marcus Smart goes hard on mini hoops.
