ahem, its closer to 18/7/4 on 50/38/86 shooting splits
i think those numbers go up in a higher usage situation like indiana where he'd be the #1 wing as opposed to the #3. and that $34M is a lot, but it's also off the books in one year.
― cointelamateur (m bison), Saturday, 24 October 2020 03:20 (five years ago)
well if indiana were doing this they'd have to be getting a sense of what gordon's extension will be, obviously he's in no position to stay at $34M but my guess is it would be 3 years north of 20 which is a little scary imo.
i'll just put my bias out there, hayward's celtics career was insanely snakebit but i have watched him play basketball for the past two seasons and i don't expect him to be all that good going forward.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 24 October 2020 03:28 (five years ago)
i get that, but he seemed to have turned a corner this year.
― cointelamateur (m bison), Saturday, 24 October 2020 03:51 (five years ago)
turning a corner at age 30? sure

brogdon was enticed to the pacers only a season ago, please ask him how he feels about playing second fiddle to a trump voter
― micah, Saturday, 24 October 2020 04:47 (five years ago)
look i dont even like gordon!!!! he's not s scrub player tho
― cointelamateur (m bison), Saturday, 24 October 2020 04:52 (five years ago)
no but he is overpaid and the cap might shrink.
― micah, Saturday, 24 October 2020 08:29 (five years ago)
sorry u have gordon hayward now not my problem
― lag∞n, Saturday, 24 October 2020 15:43 (five years ago)
but i mean he is an easy 20-5-5 on high percentages and is good at basically all basketball skills
― lag∞n, Saturday, 24 October 2020 15:45 (five years ago)
hes also a willing team player and so forth
― lag∞n, Saturday, 24 October 2020 15:46 (five years ago)
health has been bad and hes overpaid, tho prob wont be on his next contract
hes a clear second option on offense who is also a very good playmaker, kind of guy who can fit in anywhere, positionally flexible etc
― lag∞n, Saturday, 24 October 2020 15:48 (five years ago)
nice platitudes but they dont add up to 34M
― micah, Saturday, 24 October 2020 20:57 (five years ago)
ill take the 34M instead then if you won't give it to him
― ciderpress, Saturday, 24 October 2020 21:33 (five years ago)
im willing to settle for 33m
― lag∞n, Saturday, 24 October 2020 22:15 (five years ago)

Pacers should just let it ride this season
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 October 2020 15:08 (five years ago)
guess that depends on if they think they can walk dipo back from his trade demand (which he has denied btw) / if anyone is making good offers for him anyway (prob not)
― lag∞n, Monday, 26 October 2020 15:18 (five years ago)
read the new coach wants to play small/switchable which if they really want to do that they should trade turner to the celtics for gordon hayward
― lag∞n, Monday, 26 October 2020 15:19 (five years ago)

didn't know his agent was bartelstein. if anyone can find a better deal for gordo than 1/34M, he can.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 26 October 2020 20:46 (five years ago)
listened to that pod they said something that i hadn't really thought about that 34M next year isn't really worth that much, a lot of it will be in escrow and probably won't get paid out due to revenue crunch, whereas a longer contract that pays out money 2 or 3 years from now is a lot more likely to be worth the stated value.

one of my favorite heinsohn quotes is him talking about bill russell and boston to SI in the late 1990s. really cuts to it, shows you the kind of guy he was pic.twitter.com/o3ibeldydq— Jack Hamilton (@jack_hamilton) November 10, 2020

RIP, Tommy. The first Celtics game I ever saw on TV was during the last season Tommy coached. It's gonna be weird to watch them and not hear his voice.

waggling eyebrows
Sources: Boston and Charlotte have worked on a sign-and-trade for Gordon Hayward that would land Celtics a trade exception, but Hornets have first been trying to find a third team for Nic Batum's $27M contract to see if there's a way to avoid waiving-and-stretching his money.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) November 25, 2020
