couple caveats re rob playing time is brad did imply the other day that they were bringing him back slowly from last years injury and rob has said that sometimes it still bothers him so if theyre trying to avoid a long term problem there i support it, and tbh i have to give brad the benefit of the doubt re developing young players both jays have outperformed what people thought their ceiling even was when they were drafted, some of the other guys theyve drafted more recently idk jurys still out obvs not everyones going to stick, rob tho is looking very good this year, he makes plays!
― lag∞n, Thursday, 25 February 2021 18:04 (four years ago)
some stretches w rob in is the only time of the brad era that imo the offense has looked really dominant, theyve had highish ratings but i feel like brad is such an optimizer despite being often very good his teams dont tend have that thing where youre like holy shit theyre punching the knicks in the neck, which is what i like to see tbh
― lag∞n, Thursday, 25 February 2021 18:06 (four years ago)
i've given this a lot of thought and their main problem is they play too many guys who have between 0-1 offensive skills. bunch of non-nba players on the roster and borderline players getting asked to give important minutes. i'm ticked that some of the local sentiment has turned toward the Js being selfish! no one else can do anything!
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 25 February 2021 18:11 (four years ago)
their bench sucking is def far and away their biggest problem, and then having a bunch of injuries has compounded that by giving the bench more minutes
― lag∞n, Thursday, 25 February 2021 18:13 (four years ago)
one semi ojelye type is an interesting spare part. three or four semi ojelye types is a major problem.

i think there is a sunk cost thing going on with thompson. cut your losses and bench the man for rob
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 25 February 2021 21:15 (four years ago)
yeah i think they need to see what rob can do with the starters. no upside for tristan. he can still play a few minutes a night and maybe more in certain matchups.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 25 February 2021 21:25 (four years ago)
he's got six good fouls in him
― That's not really my scene (I'm 41) (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 25 February 2021 21:29 (four years ago)
rob williams makes plays thats just one of the facts of the world
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 01:51 (four years ago)
rob should celebrate his plays more its like he doesnt even know hes making plays maybe its normal to him
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 02:32 (four years ago)
he's been making weird plays off of good instincts since his first year. i do get some mild savant vibes from him.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 02:38 (four years ago)
rob just dimed up javonte green on a backdoor cut while he was standing at the top of the arc. shrug.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 02:41 (four years ago)
jaylen has had some just awful games recently
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 02:45 (four years ago)
Jayson?
― i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Saturday, 27 February 2021 02:52 (four years ago)
jaylen, but yeah both of them, but jaylen has had some games including tonight where he just looks out of it throwing the ball out of bounds and so forth
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 02:56 (four years ago)
i would like for both of them to skip the allstar game
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 02:57 (four years ago)
lol doris is such a big supporter of the celtics center rotation maybe she feels bad for them
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:00 (four years ago)
doris, like all intelligent observers, agrees that daniel theis never gets a goddamn call
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:01 (four years ago)
if tristan can't keep sabonis out of the paint there is literally no point in him being here
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:03 (four years ago)
thankfully brad agrees and got his ass out of the game
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:04 (four years ago)
yeah this has to be the end of the tristan experience hes just been plain awful
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:08 (four years ago)
very clearly the celtics 3rd best center
there's our guy rob with the big rebound!
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:09 (four years ago)
shooting free throws to ice it with a big dumb smile on his face. love this guy.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:10 (four years ago)
14-11-4 1stl 3blk in 22 minutes
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:12 (four years ago)
there's going to be some foul trouble and some missed rotations and he can't play a ton of minutes but he's super talented and it's time to take him out on the highway and see what he can do
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:14 (four years ago)
he gets an insane amount of steals for a bigman, hes averaging 1 in only 15mins a game, if you extrapolate that to starters minutes he would be... leading the nba! (and he would be second in blocks)
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:20 (four years ago)
yeah overall he has a really good activity level and he usually channels his activity in positive ways. i think his passing could really help too, he's happy to move the ball and about once a game he'll make a wow pass
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:22 (four years ago)
he can do stuff he makes plays hes not tristan thompson give the guy a shot
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:26 (four years ago)

i have never figured out the difference between jay king and jared weiss, any guidance is appreciated
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:28 (four years ago)
weiss is a lil bit more nerdy and king is more jocky i think, like weiss writes stories for the athletic that have play diagrams in them where king writes stories for the athletic that have quotes about playing harder in them, but yeah very similar guys
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:31 (four years ago)
ok that helps, feel like i've seen a couple of nice pieces on celtics xs and os so those must have been weiss. robb i know because he's dabbled in radio and other stuff and i think he's a reasonably sharp observer of the team in general. happy he's now at masslive where i can read him.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:34 (four years ago)
yeah f the boston sports journal paywall lol
― lag∞n, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:35 (four years ago)
As a new Athletic subscriber this season I’ve been really pleasantly surprised by the quality of their coverage, especially Weiss. I had/have the impression he was hired off one of the blogs and was expecting him to basically be Kevin O’Connor but he’s a way better writer
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:39 (four years ago)
xp maybe worth it if you need deep semi-contrarian patriots coverage but those days are behind me
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:39 (four years ago)

Anyway just checking in to see the win tonight, didn’t get to watch the game. Very happy to see them get a quality one and to see Rob quasi-unleashed
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:40 (four years ago)
haha i wonder if this is rob's first presser
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 27 February 2021 03:42 (four years ago)
Paul Pierce had his money on Kevin Garnett. The rest of the Celtics, including Doc Rivers, thought differently. That turned out to be a big mistake. The lesson they all learned that day - don't bet against the Big Ticket! 😤 pic.twitter.com/iekOCJTytI— ClutchPoints (@ClutchPointsApp) February 28, 2021

Was just coming to post about that! Story is from Scalabrine on the Lowe Post from Friday. Worth a listen, 80% of it is on the current Celts and then a little bit on the 2008 team. Scal’s description of the arm wrestling match is gold too, how KG wore big baby down psychologically (unsurprisingly)
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 28 February 2021 20:28 (four years ago)
saw thompson pass an offensive rebound out to an open shooter
― lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 00:53 (four years ago)
put together your big package for collins then get harrison barnes for more or less a salary dump, something like that, my plan for building a celtics contender
― lag∞n, Monday, March 1, 2021 4:40 PM (three minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink
x post from the main thread for the true celtics heads
― lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 21:44 (four years ago)
the beauty of trading for collins is he makes $4m so matching salaries is no problem, then you have the tpe for another player, this assumes celtics ownership is willing to go deep into the luxury for the foreseeable future
― lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 21:47 (four years ago)
where as if you put together a big package for aaron gordon you get only one player
― lag∞n, Monday, 1 March 2021 21:48 (four years ago)
going all in with john collins is a really tough call for me. i haven’t decided on it yet.
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 2 March 2021 00:58 (four years ago)
he's a borderline all-star at a position that is at a v high premium, the Big Wing
