same, but on the other hand having him anywhere ahead of tristan is a pretty huge upgrade

Evan Fournier will not make his debut tonight because he’s in health and safety protocols, per the Celtics.— Jay King (@ByJayKing) March 27, 2021

i'm just gonna say it--the game changed tonight when they put luke kornet in
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 28 March 2021 02:56 (three years ago) link
and the stats will back me up because they literally went on a 19-0 run when he checked in
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 28 March 2021 03:00 (three years ago) link
kornet is definitively ahead of tristan in the celtics center rotation now
― lag∞n, Sunday, 28 March 2021 03:02 (three years ago) link
i joke but he was playing great! active, staying vertical on defense, he can shoot and move the ball a bit.
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 28 March 2021 03:02 (three years ago) link
definitely more of an exemplar of what they like to do at center than tristan.

there's a stevens quote floating around about how they had been intrigued by his pick and roll defense for a while?? i just assumed by rep that he was one of those dudes who is too slow to really defend much.
they're doing a postgame interview with him and he is insanely sweaty.
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 28 March 2021 03:26 (three years ago) link
watching him move around his feet literally looked heavy

every time a big time college head coaching job opens brad trends on twitter lol
― lag∞n, Thursday, 1 April 2021 18:24 (three years ago) link
bomani was making this point when indiana fired its coach but the only coaches who go back to college from the NBA are the ones who are forced to because they can't hack it in the pros... calipari, pitino... fred hoiberg. brad is this weird special situation bcuz he coached butler so ppl attach this romantic idea of college basketball to him, like he just a gritty grinder who loves the purity of the game and will one day leave the glitz and glamor behind so he can go back to coaching random white corn boys who he can bootstrap to the final 4. but there isn't really any evidence that an NBA coach who is in demand w/ NBA teams which brad obv would be is going to go back to the amateur level
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 1 April 2021 19:34 (three years ago) link
i'm curious what happens w/ juwan howard... he's been killing it at michigan, has the no 1 recruiting class coming up, will prob continue to be an amazing recruiter, is coaching at his alma mater, but also has 5+ years of nba assistant experience, you'd think he'd be able to command the respect of pros. i don't know what the read on him is as a tactical coach or w/e tho i haven't been paying that close of attention
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 1 April 2021 19:42 (three years ago) link
Larry Brown a notable exception, but he's pretty iconoclastic and defies any attempt to generalize about coaching trajectories.
Can't imagine Brad taking the step back now at all, or even down the line to anything other than a dream situation. But I could see him going to coach Indiana someday, if they are a top team again and stumble into a coaching vacancy when Brad also happens to be at a natural transition point.

i’ve read some friend of a friend stuff from people in the boston area who know brad socially. apparently he will say absolutely nothing about the celtics but he will openly say that he fucking hates recruiting.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 1 April 2021 20:31 (three years ago) link
right. college coaches have to work all year round to convince high school kids to play for them, NBA coaches work w/ ppl who do the recruiting and get the summer and fall off

― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Saturday, 3 April 2021 12:50 (three years ago) link
Wilt Chamberlain, Nikola Jokic, Draymond Green and Robert Williams. Those are the four centers in NBA history to score at least 20 points without a miss while dishing out eight assists in a game, with the latest coming in the Celtics’ 118-102 win over the Rockets on Friday night.
damn rob for mvp

Houston traded Clint Capela on 2/5/2020, a little over a month before the league shut down for COVID. It is boggling my mind how quickly and dramatically they have completely shifted the identity, trajectory, whatever of their team. I guess better to go from contention to process-like rebuild in half a season than to wait a decade to blow it up like the Magic did tho
(xps to me reflecting on rob's ability to never miss a shot against them)

I forgot how he got that nickname. I guess it's an sarcastic dig at him for missing a meeting years ago? At this point they should pass that title to Wiseman and give Rob a better one.

The decision was made after Pierce published racy Instagram videos on Friday, showing him smoking what appeared to be marijuana and with scantily clad women whom may have been strippers.
