i'm curious what happens w/ juwan howard... he's been killing it at michigan, has the no 1 recruiting class coming up, will prob continue to be an amazing recruiter, is coaching at his alma mater, but also has 5+ years of nba assistant experience, you'd think he'd be able to command the respect of pros. i don't know what the read on him is as a tactical coach or w/e tho i haven't been paying that close of attention

Larry Brown a notable exception, but he's pretty iconoclastic and defies any attempt to generalize about coaching trajectories.

Can't imagine Brad taking the step back now at all, or even down the line to anything other than a dream situation. But I could see him going to coach Indiana someday, if they are a top team again and stumble into a coaching vacancy when Brad also happens to be at a natural transition point.

i’ve read some friend of a friend stuff from people in the boston area who know brad socially. apparently he will say absolutely nothing about the celtics but he will openly say that he fucking hates recruiting.

right. college coaches have to work all year round to convince high school kids to play for them, NBA coaches work w/ ppl who do the recruiting and get the summer and fall off

Houston traded Clint Capela on 2/5/2020, a little over a month before the league shut down for COVID. It is boggling my mind how quickly and dramatically they have completely shifted the identity, trajectory, whatever of their team. I guess better to go from contention to process-like rebuild in half a season than to wait a decade to blow it up like the Magic did tho

feel like espn wouldve just said so if that were the case BUT maybe paul knew he was about to be fired OR maybe he was in some sort of fight with them and just said fuck it

it has to be some confluence of events, i don't think espn normally just fires ppl this quickly over one incident

During Bird's era almost no one practiced taking threes regularly. It was still considered a low percentage shot, suitable for desperation flings as the shot clock wound down. A player who sought to specialize in threes was a freak.

+ hustle on defense, i had literally forgotten what that looked like

if they can keep this up the bench is still the big question mark. if Romeo can stay healthy and effective and Fournier jells in, I am excited. Tristan not quite as objectionable when he's backin up Rob instead of obstructing his minutes.

My other latent worry is that Kemba seems like he could fall off the washed cliff at any moment, but i guess his game has always looked a little unlikely. hopefully he can hang on for another season or two
